  • Patent number: 4709290
Abstract: A tape cassette, in particular a magnetic tape cassette, is provided, for tape and hub guidance, with bent support liners (7, 8) which are located between the roll (1) or rolls and the adjacent housing wall (6). According to the invention, bent-over or folded-over longitudinal strips (7a, 7b) which are bent at certain angles toward the housing wall (6) support the liners (7, 8) in such a way that it is possible to counteract deformation due to the weight of the rolls of tape. These liners (7, 8) can be used for all cassette recording media, but preferably for those having a very small tape thickness.

  • Patent number: 4613095
Abstract: A plate spring for tape cassettes advantageously consists of two long and two short spring arms whose shapes and dimensions are optimized to achieve minimum wastage of material during punching from a sheet-metal strip. The length of the fastening arms is preferably about the same as the width of the ends of the long spring arms or less or at most 1.5 times the width. The spring can be used for all types of tape cassettes, regardless of whether they contain magnetic tape, film or other recording media. A tape cassette possesses a plate spring which has this form and is fastened by welding.

  • Patent number: 4465247
Abstract: A magnetic tape transport apparatus wherein at least one capstan simultaneously drives the take-up and supply reels, and wherein tape tension is generated by a braking device allotted to each tape reel, each braking device consisting of an assembly of levers (A, B, C, and D, E, Z) and a braking cable which is wound around the axle supporting the tape reel, and by means of which the braking forces are so adjusted that it is always the axle of the supply reel which is braked, while the axle of the take-up reel runs relatively freely. In a practical embodiment, the lever assembly comprises at least three hingedly connected levers (A, B, C and D, E, Z), viz. two lateral levers and an interconnecting lever, it being possible to obtain different lever arrangements by varying the locations of the movable pivot points (G) and the fixed fulcrum points (F) FIGS. 1 to 3).

  • Patent number: 4456160
Abstract: A guide device for tape-like recording media, especially a reversing guide device for magnetic tapes, that are transported at high speed, which comprises at least one guide roll, around whose periphery the recording medium is guided, and which is rotatably mounted in bearings, a deliberate specific braking torque being produced between the guide roll and its bearings. Further embodiments concern the roughness of the roll's peripheral surface, the design of flanges for the lateral guidance of the recording medium and the use of two guide rolls. The braking torque is produced by braking means acting on the guide roll. The novel guide device can be used advantageously in any high-speed magnetic tape transport apparatus for the recording/reproduction of any type of audio, video or data signal.

  • Patent number: 4424941
Abstract: A tape transport apparatus comprising a central drive capstan and take-up and supply reels which are rotatably mounted on supports that ae movable relative to said capstan and can be urged by biasing means toward the capstan to maintain the surface engagement between the periphery of the capstan and the peripheries of the reels. To compensate for the mass moment of inertia of the movable supports and the tape reels mounted thereon, one or more counterweighting means are provided which are movably connected to the supports in such a way that the mass inertias cancel each other out.

  • Patent number: 4358069
Abstract: The generation of tape tension, based on the capacity for elastic flow of elastomeric incompressible layers, in a tape transport apparatus employing at least one capstan in contact with supply and take-up reels of tape is accomplished by producing a higher compressive force at the point of contact between the take-up reel and the resiliently deformable peripheral portion of the capstan than at the point of contact between the supply reel and the capstan. The difference in compressive forces is brought about by an additional force which is produced by means of a drivable rotating body and is transmitted to the tape reel carriers by means of a cable which is guided over this rotating body.
