Publication number: 20100074003Abstract: The single conductor magnetoresistance random access memory consists of memory cells which are made up of a flat thin film conductor, covered on both flat surfaces with thin magnetic films. Their coercive forces have different values. A current flowing through the conductor produces a magnetic field which circles the conductor. For high currents, which lead to magnetic fields larger than the coercive force of each of the magnetic films, the two magnetic films will be magnetized antiparallel to each other. Current values which produce magnetic fields between the values of the coercive field values of both films, will only modify the magnetization direction of the film with the low coercive field. It can be lined up parallel- or anti-parallel to the magnetization of the high coercive force film without changing the magnetization direction of the high coercive film.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 22, 2008Publication date: March 25, 2010Inventor: Klaus Schroder

Patent number: 7468557Abstract: An ultra thin film with very low electrical resistance is produced by forming a substrate of a substrate material which forms a metastable bond and depositing a conducting film on the substrate in a vacuum environment in which a base pressure is reduced to a value below 10?5 Torr. The film is a metal, metallic alloy, or multilayered film which includes at least one metallic layer. A 0.1 nm thick manganese film deposited in this way on a germanium substrate has a resistivity which at room temperature is lower than the resistivity of metal films of aluminum and copper with the same thickness prepared the same way.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 2003Date of Patent: December 23, 2008Assignee: Syracuse UniversityInventor: Klaus Schroder

Patent number: 4185322Abstract: Data can be stored in a 1,2, or 3-dimensional memory by lining up the permanent dipole of small particles using a superposition of ultrasonic pulses and applied fields. Signals due to dipole orientation changes in particles with lower coercive fields than the design coercive field may lead to a large "noise" signal which disturbs the readout. This "noise" signal can be eliminated by applying a field with or without stress to the sample which lines up all dipoles with too low coercive fields. Afterwards the standard procedure to "read" the memory is used, which is undisturbed by the "noise" due to flipping of dipoles with too low coercive fields, if the field applied during "reading" is parallel to the field used to flip particles with too low critical fields.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 1976Date of Patent: January 22, 1980Inventor: Klaus Schroder
