  • Patent number: 5033282
Abstract: A self-locking electronic lock system is illustrated in association with safe doors having a door locking bolt works manipulated between door open and door locked positions by a door mounted handle. The bolt works includes a link which moves the door bolts and in turn is locked by an electronic lock in accordance with the present disclosure. The elctronic lock has a spring bias bolt normally biased into a locking gate provided on the link and is operated to a withdrawn position by an associated digital input electronic signal generating means.

  • Patent number: 4967577
Abstract: An electronic lock with manual combination override for opening of a lock by both an electronic and manual means. The electronic lock has a bolt operating release mechanism which operates to allow opening of the lock by either the electronic or manual mode. The electronic and manual modes both operably open the lock through operation of the bolt operating release mechanism. The bolt operating release mechanism is a multi-component assembly operable as a unit or relative to each component dependent on the mode of operation. The electronic mode is operably by use of electronic components which include but are not limited to, pressure-sensitive switches, logic circuit, and a circuit mounting board. An electronic combination is generated, retained and operable with the electronic components to open the lock.

  • Patent number: 4910981
Abstract: An automatically self locking and self scrambling combination lock is disclosed wherein a spring biased bolt is moveable by its bias toward a locking position and a detent is provided on an end of the fence arm associated with a fence lever connected to the bolt whereby on movement of the bolt towards its locking position, the detent engages the edge of a single one of the tumbler wheel gates to scramble that tumbler wheel alignment relative the other tumbler wheels as the fence arm leaves the tumbler wheel gates.

  • Patent number: 4904984
Abstract: A combination lock is provided with an additional security lock wherein an electrically operable solenoid, having an armature post normally biased outwardly of a solenoid body is mounted to the combination lock housing so as to position the armature post normally to block movement of either the combination lock bolt or the bolt release lever associated with the bolt. An electrical signal generator which may be an electrical switch, electronic lock mechanism or other electrical signal generating means, is provided for selectively operating the solenoid to retract the post from a bolt and/or bolt release lever blocking position to thereafter allow operation of the combination lock in an otherwise standard mechanical manipulation or electronic digital input of the main combination lock.

  • Patent number: 4901546
Abstract: The tumbler wheels have a plurality of false gates, each having a width, depth and/or angular position feature which is a random value selected from within given circumferential, radial and/or angular locational limits, respectively, to foil sophisticated sound wave analyzers. Additonally, the wheel may include an outer periphery whose radius between pairs of adjacent gates is randomly variable within given limits. A method and apparatus for producing the random wheels in large batches includes spindling a large number of blank wheels on an arbor and randomly rotating the arbor selectively relative to a cutting tool which is randomly movable selectively in two axes.

  • Patent number: 4899562
Abstract: An electronic door lock is provided with a single control knob used for entering a predetermined combination through manipulation of the knob in a first arc of rotation, the code being entered by pushing the dial inwardly to bring a push pad into contact with individual ones of an arcuate array of electrical switches provided on a printed circuit board within the lock housing, the release of the door locking bolt being accomplished after entry of the predetermined code by further manipulation of the control knob through remaining portions of knob rotation which are unavailable until after entry of the predetermined code.

  • Patent number: 4648255
Abstract: A lock protecting device for high security safes uses two hardened-material plates between which ball bearings have been nested in an egg-crate fashion. The plates with the safe's lock works mounted thereon are mounted to the interior of the safe door in order to present consecutive barriers to an intruding drill bit. Another plate is mounted to the rear of the lock works such that an intruding drill bit will lastly strike this plate causing it to break away, thereby releasing a plunger into engagement with the locking bolt and preventing opening of the safe door even if the rest of the lock works are manipulated into their unlocked state.

  • Patent number: 4628715
Abstract: An improved device for preventing unauthorized opening of a combination lock of the type having a plurality of tumbler wheels in conjunction with a fence-lever-actuated bolt in which a tumbler wheel assembly shield having an opening to avoid a rearward expulsion of the dial shaft provides a barrier to unauthorized rearward or radial manipulation of the tumbler wheel assemblies by use of fishing hooks inserted and manipulated from the front of the lock.

  • Patent number: 4509350
Abstract: A protective lock mounting plate is provided between a lock housing on the interior of a safe door and the interior surface of the safe door to resist drilling into the lock housing through the door in areas adjacent a combination dial, or the like, on the exterior of the safe door in a frontal location relative lock works within the lock housing. Non-drillable material is positioned in annular rings bonded in grooves of concentric circular configuration formed in a surface of the mounting plate which is directed against the interior surface of the door facing in the direction from which drilling intrusion is anticipated.

  • Patent number: 3991596
Abstract: A tumbler wheel type lock mechanism for use in key locks, dial operated combination locks and the like, including plural tumbler wheels in a lock casing having gated rim portions encircling hub portions which may be adjusted to different angular positions relative to their associated rim portions. A pivoted fence lever is normally releasably latched in a raised inactive position, and a releasing spring is activated by a control cam to impact against a shoulder formation on the fence lever for releasing the latter from such latched condition and impelling it to coupled relation with the control cam when the tumbler wheels occupy a predetermined alignment whereby the lock cam can be unlocked by operation of the control cam.

  • Patent number: 3968667
Abstract: A combination lock of the type having peripherally gated tumbler wheels rotating about a common axis and adjusted by a rotatable dial and driving cam assembled on a spindle and supported for axial as well as rotary movement, the lock has an over-center spring coupled to a fence lever which normally holds the fence lever at a raised inactive position and has a fence lever accelerator which includes an anvil surface portion and a hammer portion supported by a spring formation which is stressed to an energy storage position responsive to rotation of the driving cam so that the hammer portion can be released from that position to impact against the anvil surface and impel the fence lever toward the driving cam to cause the fence lever to shift to a lowered coupled condition with the driving cam if the tumbler wheels are properly aligned and to cause it to be spring returned to the raised inactive position if they are not properly aligned.
