  • Patent number: 4643412
Abstract: A guide block (11) has a groove (16) with a flat floor cut into it, in which an endless belt (15) containing perforations (17) travels. A suction opening (18) opens into the floor of the groove (16), to which a vacuum is periodically applied by means of a valve (12). The endless belt (15) travels over a stack (1) of sheets (2) by means of guide rollers (4,5) and a drive roller (3). The vacuum, when periodically applied by the valve (12), operates through the perforations (17) so that the topmost sheet (2) of the stack (1) is sucked against the endless belt (15) and carried away in the same direction (28). One preferred form of the endless belt (15) is a toothed belt, with spaces between the teeth (21) that form vacuum chambers (22). With this compact and therefore easily positionable device, sheets (2) are sucked up from a stack (1) and transported away while maintaining their orientation, meaning that very high production rates are attained.

  • Patent number: 4149802
Abstract: A device for measuring ink film thickness in the inking system of a printing press which includes a pair of hollow transparent rollers, at least one of which is resilient so that when the rollers are in rolling engagement with one another and with an ink-carrying roller in the press, there is a longitudinally extending ribbon-like area of engagement between them through which an enclosed film of ink is fed in a thickness which varies in accordance with the thickness of the ink film in the press. A longitudinally extensive light projector in one of the rollers cooperates with a correspondingly dimensioned light collector in the other, the collector being coupled to a photocell having an output indicator. The projector and collector are both in the form of optical cross section transformers, the projector being coupled fiber-optically to an external light source. A filter assembly is interposed in the light path manually switchable for application, to the film, of light of complementary color.

  • Patent number: 4009184
Abstract: Compounds which are amino carbonyl derivatives of benzofurans which have the formula ##STR1## in which R is a hydrogen, halogen, or alkyl radical containing up to 4 carbon atoms, X is a phenyl, halophenyl, alkylphenyl, or alkoxyphenyl radical, the alkyl moieties of which contain up to 4 carbon atoms, and Y is a dialkylamino radical, the alkyl moieties of which contain up to 4 carbon atoms, or a pyrrolidino, piperidino, hexamethylenimino, morpholino, piperazino, 4-methylpiperazino, or 4-(2-hydroxyethyl)piperazino radical, and acid addition salts thereof, processes for their preparation, and pharmaceutical compositions containing these compounds.

  • Patent number: 3978788
Abstract: An ink fountain having a metering assembly in the form of a series of rectangularly shaped slides fitted into a horizontal slot in a frame with only the presented front ends of the slides being exposed and abutting the fountain roller. The slides are arranged side by side in coplanar relation with their lateral edges lying closely adjacent one another. Notches are formed in the lateral edges of the slides adjacent the front ends thereof, with the notches being occupied by slightly oversized buttons of resilient sealing material. The metering assembly is held captive at its ends between two vertical end plates which apply inward squeezing pressure to the metering assembly so as to compress the resilient buttons uniformly to bring the lateral edges of the slides into snug sliding relation to prevent leakage of ink between them and for the purpose of distributing any cumulative tolerance error equally between all of the slides in the series.

  • Patent number: 3966735
Abstract: Piperazine derivatives having the following general formula ##EQU1## in which n is 2 or 3, X is an oxy or thio radical, and A and B are each a radical of the group consisting of phenyl radicals containing at most three substituents of the group consisting of nitro, trifluoromethyl, halogen, cyano, and alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, acyl, and alkylsulfonyl radicals containing at most 6 carbon atoms, and similar cycloalkyl and cycloalkylalkyl radicals, their acid addition salts, processes for their production, and pharmaceutical compositions containing the same. The compounds have a very favorable action on the central nervous system and are effective agents for the treatment of anxiety states, psychoses, emotional disturbances, aggressive tendencies, and can be used generally for the treatment of psychiatrically disturbed and psychoneurotic patients.
