  • Publication number: 20080314329
Abstract: A birdcage feeder for feeding a bird includes a feeding device that holds a quantity of feed for consumption by the bird, a base having a retaining portion for retaining the feeding device and a feeding portion for receiving feed from the feeding device. The feeding portion is disposed substantially on the inside of a birdcage and the feeding device is disposed outside of the birdcage. A passageway is wider than a spacing between two adjacent wires of a wirewall for passing feed from the feeding device to the feeding portion.

  • Patent number: 5176824
Abstract: An aerobic filter which comprises a chamber for holding a medium for aerobic bacterial growth. The chamber is positioned to receive filtered water from a primary file which at least physically filters contaminated aquarium water. The chamber is also positioned to be at least partially out of the aquarium water to provide oxygenation of the aerobic bacteria to enhance their growth, and to directly return the aerobically filtered water to the aquarium.

  • Patent number: 5098585
Abstract: An aquarium filter assembly which can be utilized as a diatomaceous earth filter which is self-priming. The filter includes a housing having a pump means from which depends a filtering element. The water pumped through the filtering element can be directed either back into the housing for recirculation of the water in the housing, or out of the housing and back into the aquarium tank for filtering of the aquarium tank water. A valve within the housing operates to permit water entry into the housing upon initial insertion and during filtration of the aquarium tank water. The valve closes when the water flow from the filtering element is directed back into the housing. Diatomaceous earth can be added into the housing and the water recirculated within the housing serves to self-prime the filter element. After charging the filter element, the water flow from the filtering element is directed into the aquarium tank and the valve opens to permit regular filtering of the aquarium tank water.

  • Patent number: 4934187
Abstract: A flow meter insertable into a riser tube or an intake tube of an aquarium filter includes an insert placed in the tube and along which water flows as it is drawn by means of a power head, impeller or pump. A flow restriction arrangement, defines a flow path with respect to the insert. The insert carries an elongated slot with a scale and has two oppositely directed semi-circular flanges dimensioned so that they block water from flowing through the entire area of the container but allow the water to enter on one side of the insert, then flow into the slot and exit along the opposite side of the insert. A metering float inserted adjacent the scale and is positioned at a level height relative to the flow rate of water passing the insert. This value can be read on the scale.
