  • Publication number: 20170152219
Abstract: A method for producing urea. A methane-containing feed gas stream is reacted with oxygen by partial oxidation to form a synthesis gas stream containing hydrogen and carbon monoxide. The carbon monoxide is reacted with water in a water gas-shift reaction to form carbon dioxide and hydrogen. The synthesis gas stream is separated into a first synthesis gas substream a second synthesis gas substream. The first synthesis gas substream is subjected to pressure-swing adsorption to separate hydrogen and the second synthesis gas substream is subjected to temperature-swing adsorption to separate carbon dioxide. The separated is reacted with nitrogen to form ammonia and the ammonia is reacted with the carbon dioxide to form urea.

  • Patent number: 9469534
Abstract: The present invention relates to a reformer tube for producing synthesis gas, e.g., hydrogen, and an apparatus and a process for producing synthesis gas, in particular hydrogen. The reformer tube is configured for directing the flow of starting materials and at least one reaction product in volume streams for the purpose of producing a synthesis gas. The reformer tube has in its interior at least one flow directing device having a first guide device for diverting a first partial volume stream in a direction having a radial component directed away from the longitudinal axis of the reformer tube, and having a second guide device for diverting a second partial volume stream in a direction having a radial component directed towards the longitudinal axis of the reformer tube.

  • Publication number: 20150251907
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for producing synthesis gas from a feedstock stream, in which the feedstock stream comprising hydrocarbon and steam is introduced into a reformer tube of a steam reformer to generate synthesis gas. The feedstock stream is mixed with H2O prior to introduction into the reformer tube in order to cool the feedstock stream.

  • Publication number: 20150115203
Abstract: The invention relates to a process and an apparatus for the parallel production of at least two synthesis gases (10, 11) having different compositions from a hydrocarbon-containing starting material (1) which is, after mixing with steam (2) and/or carbon dioxide (3), fed to a steam reformer (R) and there converted into synthesis gas by steam reforming in at least two catalyst tubes (K1, K2, K3) operated in parallel. It is characteristic of the invention that at least two mixtures (6, 9) having different compositions are formed from the hydrocarbon-containing starting material (1) by division and addition of steam (2) and/or carbon dioxide (3), where each of the different mixtures (6, 9) is fed as exclusive feed to a catalyst tube or a group of catalyst tubes (K1, K2, K3) of the steam reformer (R) and converted into synthesis gas (10, 11).

  • Patent number: 8029750
Abstract: The invention relates to a process as well as a device for removal of exhaust gas (7) that contains oxidizable pollutants. The exhaust gas (7) that contains oxidizable pollutants is introduced at a suitable location (a) into a flue gas system (K) that corresponds to a process oven (D) and is mixed with hot, oxygen-containing flue gas that flows through the flue gas system, whereby the exhaust gas (7) that contains oxidizable pollutants is heated to a temperature of at least 600° C.
