  • Patent number: 9297237
Abstract: An essentially cylindrical deadleg having a first cross sectional area at one end of the deadleg and a second cross sectional area, the first cross sectional area being smaller than the second cross sectional area.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 23, 2008
Date of Patent: March 29, 2016
    Assignee: STATOIL PETROLEUM AS
Inventors: Knud Lunde, Keijo Kinnari, Catherine Labes-Carrier
  • Patent number: 8220552
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of inhibiting formation of solid hydrates in a conduit used to contain a flowing, water-containing hydrocarbon, which method comprises introducing into said hydrocarbon in said conduit a gas which raises the pressure threshold for hydrate formation for said water-containing hydrocarbon, said gas being introduced in a manner which causes it to travel along at least part of said conduit in the direction of hydrocarbon flow.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 9, 2005
Date of Patent: July 17, 2012
    Assignee: Statoil ASA
Inventors: Keijo J. Kinnari, Catherine Labes-Carrier, Knud Lunde, Leif Aaberge
  • Patent number: 8191646
Abstract: A method of protecting a hydrocarbon conduit during a period of reduced hydrocarbon flow is disclosed, where nitrogen is introduced into the conduit at a pressure of 1 to 350 bar g and at a rate of (1.5 to 35)A kg/sec (where A is the internal cross sectional area of the conduit in square meters) for a period of t hours where t=(p×d)/n where d is the length in km of the conduit from the nitrogen introduction location and n is 10 to 400.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 14, 2007
Date of Patent: June 5, 2012
    Assignee: Statoil ASA

  • Publication number: 20030168261
Abstract: A weighing bridge used for weighing of large vehicles. The plate is the part of the weighing bridge onto which the vehicles drive and are parked during the weighing. Apart from the plate, the weighing bridge will also comprise a foundation, weighing cells and other electronic equipment which is necessary for the modern weighing of vehicles, but which together are known in the art. The weighing plate is distinguished in that all exterior surfaces are made from a compact composite material. By not having exterior steel surfaces and also utilising the extremely good durability of the composite material against influences from the environment, this together reduces and in some cases alleviates altogether the need for frequent maintenance works in order to renovate or restore the weighing bridge.

  • Publication number: 20030155695
Abstract: A lining for use in a blast furnace preferably for use in furnaces burning bio fuels, e.g. straw or wood chips or wood shavings and the like as well as ovens in power stations where fuel having a biological origin is used includes an interior surface which is in contact with slag particles. The interior surface is clad by elements (3, 4, 12) made by a ceramic or semi-ceramic material and an insulation of a cement based foam material is arranged in one or more layers (17). The foam material is advantageously placed between the interior surface and an exterior load carrying construction which for example can be a steel pillar arranged exterior of the blast furnace. With a lining for blast furnace as describes above the risk of a collapse in the insulating material is avoided at the same time it is avoided that the interior wall deteriorates due to the chemical composition of the slag particles which are present in the bio fuelled oven.
