  • Patent number: 10358609
Abstract: Metal naphthenate is removed from a crude hydrocarbon mixture by a process. The process includes mixing the crude hydrocarbon mixture comprising metal naphthenate with an acid in the presence of water, wherein the acid converts the metal naphthenate to naphthenic acid and metal salt; allowing the metal salt to partition into a water phase; and separating the crude heavy hydrocarbon mixture comprising naphthenic acid and the water phase comprising the metal salt.

  • Publication number: 20170349841
Abstract: The present invention provides a process for removing metal naphthenate from a crude hydrocarbon mixture comprising: —mixing said crude hydrocarbon mixture (1) comprising metal naphthenate with an acid (3) in the presence of water, wherein said acid converts said metal naphthenate to naphthenic acids and metal salts; —allowing said metal salt to partition into a water phase; —separating said crude heavy hydrocarbon mixture (5) comprising naphthenic acid and said water phase (6) comprising said metal salt; and —preferably pumping said water phase comprising metal salt to a formation.

  • Patent number: 8674161
Abstract: A method for isolation and quantification of naphthenate forming acids (ARN-acids) in crude oils is disclosed. The method involves selective absorbtion/adsorption of ARN acids by a solid medium. Isolation of the solid medium and transferring the ARN acids to an organic solvent which can by analysed for its ARN acid content.

  • Patent number: 8119552
Abstract: The present invention relates to a catalyst composition for the reaction of hydrocarbons comprising a zeolite with has a faujasite structure and a fibrous zeolite which comprises essentially non-crossing one-dimensional channels. Further, the catalyst composition comprises in a preferred embodiment a metal component selected from metals of the group VIB and VIII of the periodic table of elements and their compounds. The invention relates further to a process for the synthesis of such a catalyst composition and to a process for hydrocracking hydrocarbon feedstocks by using said catalyst composition.

  • Patent number: 6063266
Abstract: A process for removing essentially naphthenic acids from a crude oil which has not previously been fractionated by distillation, or from which only a naphtha fraction has been distilled. The crude oil is hydrogenated at 1-50 bars and 100-300.degree. C. over a catalyst of the kind used for hydrogenation of atmospheric residue oils. As a catalyst, especially Ni--Mo or Ni--Co deposited on alumina as a carrier material is used.
