  • Patent number: 8904267
Abstract: The present invention is a system, method and apparatus for converting a slide show presentation for use within a non-presentation application such as a Web conferencing or virtual classroom application. In accordance with the present invention, a slide show presentation in its native format can be processed to extract slide title information for each slide in the slide show presentation. Additionally, important text within slide further can be extracted. Each slide in the slide-show can be converted to a raster image and disposed within markup. The markup can be annotated with the important text and both the markup and the slide title can be provided to the non-presentation application for use in concert with the non-presentation application. In this way, the context of each slide can be preserved for use within the non-presentation application as can an image of each slide itself.

  • Patent number: 6594819
Abstract: A method for establishing a collection of application software programs capable of being hosted by a user. Application kits for software applications are received, each application kit including executable application files and additional application related data. For each software application contained in an application kit, one or more offerings are created, each offering including at least some of the additional application related data in the application kit and pricing terms for hosting of the application, and a server upon which the software application may be hosted is identified. The offerings are published on a computer accessible to the user to thereby allow the user to select an offering and host the software application relating thereto on the identified server. A plurality of offerings may be created for any software application. The offerings may be organized into a plurality of catalogs of related software applications.

  • Patent number: 6532488
Abstract: The present invention allows users to host a software application on a server accessible to a plurality of users, the software application being simultaneously useable by the plurality of users. According to one embodiment, the method of the present invention comprises receiving a plurality of application kits for a plurality of software application and creating one or more offerings for each software application contained in an application kit. A user is allowed to select an offering from a plurality of published offerings, the offerings identifying one or more software applications, which is used to establish an instance of the software application identified in the selected offering on the server. The user specifies one or more invited users and sends a message to each of the one or more invited users to join the software application instance.

  • Patent number: 5948059
Abstract: An integrated messaging system uses existing messaging systems to receive, store, retrieve and manage messages in media types and formats appropriate to each existing system using protocols which are specific to that system. Two or more systems are tightly coupled in that a message received in one system can be accessed from all other systems. Coordination between messaging systems is achieved by a synchronizer system running in one of the existing servers or in a stand-alone server. The synchronizer comprises a plurality of threads which sequentially examine corresponding mailboxes in each messaging system and update the message states in each system so that all message states correspond. In order to determine whether a message state has changed, the synchronizer maintains a state database which stores the state of each message in all messaging systems which are connected to the synchronizer.
