  • Patent number: 4678314
Abstract: A microfilm reader printer has a reader unit which projects a microfilm image onto a screen and a printer unit which reproduces copies of the microfilm image. The printer unit has an optical device for forming an electrostatic image on a photoreceptor by exposing the microfilm image onto the photoreceptor and a developing device for visualizing the electrostatic latent image formed on the photoreceptor. The developing device has a first developing unit for achieving direct development, a second developing unit for achieving reversal development and driving device for activating one of the developing units. A positive copy may be reproduced from both positive and negative types of a microfilm by selectively operating one of the developing units.

  • Patent number: 4551014
Abstract: In the original carrier according to the present invention, two spaced supporters are fixed to the glass plate along one of its sides for supporting and reinforcing the glass and the cover. Guide members are mounted on each side of the copier which slidably receive the glass and supporters to permit their reciprocal movement. One guide member receives one edge of the glass while the other receives the supporter. The supporters and glass plate reciprocally move along the guide members to permit the copying action.

  • Patent number: 4533235
Abstract: A cleaning device cleans an image forming body by removing residual magnetic developer left on a surface of the image forming body which supports a visible image formed by the magnetic developer. In the cleaning device the residual developer on the image forming body is removed by a porous elastic member which is moved relative to the image forming body.

  • Patent number: 4506972
Abstract: A developing device develops an electrostatic latent image formed on a photosensitive drum by using a magnetic developer. The developing device comprises a body frame having a storage section storing the magnetic developer, a developing roller disposed inside the body frame and including a first section facing the storage section and a second section facing the photosensitive drum, for supplying the magnetic developer in the storage section to the second section through the shift of a magnetic field, whereby the magnetic developer supplied to the second section by the developing roller is attracted to the electrostatic latent image on the photosensitive drum, and an intermediate plate provided in the frame body under the developing roller to bear thereon the magnetic developer dropped from the developing roller.

  • Patent number: 4449705
Abstract: A paper feed device according to the invention comprises a paper feed cassette accommodating paper sheets and a paper feed mechanism for feeding out paper from the cassette. It also comprises a manual paper supply guide provided on top of the cassette for advancement and retreat therealong and having a paper guide surface for guiding manual supply paper. The detection of whether paper is present in the paper feed cassette and also the detection of a paper sheet being fed over the manual paper supply guide in a manual paper feed supply mode are effected by a single detecting switch.

  • Patent number: 4432639
Abstract: This invention is directed to a clam shell type image forming device whereby the upper unit is pivotally mounted with respect to the lower unit. Conversely, the upper unit is latched into a lower portion with the lower unit. If desired, however, the upper unit can be rotated to an upper position at a fixed angle. This is desirable, for example, if the operator must remove jammed paper from the device as to, otherwise, repair any defects. The invention utilizes a latching handle which permits the operator to unlatch the upper unit from the lower unit. The handle is not permitted to operate unless the carrier is moved to its predetermined position.

  • Patent number: 4390266
Abstract: An exposure apparatus for an electronic duplicator including a first light-receiving element for receiving light reflected by a reference reflector plate or by an original and a second light-receiving element for receiving light reflected from an image focusing point of a photosensitive medium. The doses of light received by these light-receiving elements are converted to voltage signals for comparison with a reference voltage level in a comparator. The output of the comparator is coupled through a control signal generator and a trigger pulse generator to a lamp driver for controlling the document illuminating lamp light intensity and is also coupled through the control signal generator and a transformer for controlling the bias voltage applied to a developing device.

  • Patent number: 4386841
Abstract: A clam-shell type image-forming device such as photocopying or facsimile machine has an upper unit and a lower unit hinged to each other at one side. Access to internal parts, such as the photosensitive member, is gained by unlocking the two units from each other and rotating the upper unit upward. A subframe is included within the upper unit and contains the photosensitive member. When the upper unit is opened, the subframe may be lowered to position the photosensitive member for easy inspection and removal.

  • Patent number: 4371252
Abstract: A charging device includes a piled cloth contact which is formed of pliable material, has an electric resistance chosen to be 10.sup.8 .OMEGA..multidot.cm and contacts a photosensitive layer of a photosensitive drum. An electrode is connected to the contact and has a lower electric resistance than that of the contact. A D.C. power source and A.C. power source supply D.C. and A.C. voltages on the electrode to charge the photosensitive layer.
