  • Publication number: 20030107542
Abstract: Provided are image display apparatus and image display methods capable of suitably making correction for variation of driving conditions due to an electric resistance of matrix wiring of a display panel by downsized hardware. The apparatus and methods involve a device of calculating voltage drop amounts caused by the resistance of row wires, for input image data, and a device of calculating image data with correction for the voltage drop amounts (corrected image data). An overflow processing circuit is provided so as to prevent overflow of the image data after the correction from an input range of a modulator, and the overflow is prevented by a gain. Since a gradation converter for changing a gradation conversion characteristic by a gain is provided in the stage preceding to the configuration for making the correction for influence of the voltage drop, it becomes feasible to cancel saturation characteristics of phosphors and to display images with high quality thereby.

  • Publication number: 20030030654
Abstract: The present invention is to provide an image display apparatus capable of properly correcting or adjusting, with small-scale hardware, variations in drive conditions due to electric resistance of matrix wiring on a display panel. The image display apparatus includes an adjusted image data calculation unit 14 for calculating adjusted image data as image data that has been compensated for the influence of voltage drop caused by resistance of at least the row wiring and a scan unit. The image display apparatus also includes an amplitude adjustment unit having a function for adjusting the amplitude of adjusted image data Dout, and a modulator 8 the takes in the adjusted image data with the amplitude adjusted and outputs a modulation signal to the column wiring.

  • Publication number: 20020171608
Abstract: The present invention relates to an image display apparatus for forming an image with a plurality of luminescent spots to be precisely aligned in a matrix. For example, a spacer disposed between an electron source and a face plate causes luminescent spots on the face plate spaced unevenly. The luminescent spots spaced unevenly will produce a visual unevenness in luminance which deteriorates the quality of produced image. By modifying the quantity of light of luminescent spots spaced unevenly, the visual unevenness in luminance is compensated.

  • Patent number: 6392674
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for displaying a pointer mark preferable for an application to a presentation system and the like. With a reference point on a display screen being preset, when an arbitrary point is pointed on the display screen, a pointer mark is generated in a direction from the preset reference point to a pointing point related to the pointing and an image (including the pointer mark) displayed on this display screen is transferred to a projector so as to be projected on a large-sized screen.

  • Patent number: 6140985
Abstract: In an image display apparatus including a multi-electron beam source having a plurality of electron-emitting devices (51) wired in a matrix using a plurality of column wiring layers and a plurality of row wiring layers, and a plurality of phosphors which are excited to emit light upon irradiation of electron beams, a delta arrangement of phosphors is realized with the simple arrangement of the multi-electron beam source. The column and row wiring layers are straight layers, the plurality of phosphors (R, G, and B) are arranged in a delta arrangement, and the multi-electron beam source is adjusted such that a plurality of electron beams emitted therefrom reach the phosphors. For this reason, the directions of electrons emitted from the devices on an odd ((2p-1)th) row and an even (2pth) row along orbits are reversed.
