  • Patent number: 5432885
Abstract: A fuzzy inference apparatus in which a new membership function is synthesized from a current, weighted membership function and a previously synthesized membership function fed back from a previous operation and in which a new inference value is derived from the newly-synthesized membership function. The apparatus also includes, in one embodiment, weighting apparatus for weighting the previously synthesized membership function according to the degree of response of a selected process characteristic of the process in relation to the previously synthesized membership function.

  • Patent number: 5416713
Abstract: An obstacle avoidance apparatus including a target data generator for outputting observation values of a target, a static obstacle driver for expressing a static obstacle by a turning acceleration of the target, a characteristic amount extractor for outputting characteristic amounts for representing first control amounts of a destination direction and a static obstacle avoidance by the turning acceleration, and a control amount determiner for outputting a second control amount of the target based on the first control amounts. A three-dimensional obstacle is expressed by the turning acceleration looked at from the target and the control amount for avoiding the obstacle until the target reaches a destination is determined.

  • Patent number: 5408414
Abstract: A route predicting apparatus for monitoring a flying target and predicting a route thereof. Even if the target is hidden by mountains or other obstacles thus preventing observation for a certain time, a reliable route prediction is carried out by utilizing the fact that a route of the target is restricted by geographical features. The apparatus comprises an observation unit for observing a target and outputting an observed value thereof, a terrain information unit for outputting characteristic parameters of stored terrain information, a prediction unit coupled to receive the observed value and the characteristic parameters of terrain information for performing a fuzzy inference to output a predicted observed value of the target, and a learning adjustment unit coupled to receive an error signal between a predicted observed value at the current time predicted a unit time before and a real observed value at the current time for adjusting the prediction unit by using a neural network.

  • Patent number: 5289563
Abstract: A sequential type Fuzzy backward reasoning device is disclosed, which is capable of performing computation progressively every time a feature quantity is observed to update reasoning, and of performing the reasoning even if the order of observations is arbitrary, by providing means for performing the sequential reasoning instead of batch type reasoning means, and feedback means for feeding back a reasoned result.Additionally, a target recognition device is disclosed, which is capable of computing the reliability of a recognized result on a target and outputting the same as a numerical value, by obtaining another recognition information even if there is not obtained any information concerning the target, using said sequential type Fuzzy backward reasoning device.

  • Patent number: 4864490
Abstract: An auto-tuning controller includes a fuzzy resonator for the adjustment of control parameters used in the development of a control variable for controlling the operation of a system to be controlled. A characteristic variable extractor is provided which is responsive to an error signal representative of a difference between a reference value and a controlled variable value output by the system to produce a characteristic variable indicative of the operational state of the system. Based upon this characteristic variable, a fuzzy resonator adjusts the control parameters in accordance with predetermined reasoning rules stored in a reasoning rule memory.
