  • Patent number: 6584687
Abstract: A method of manufacturing an ink-jety recording head in which an ink supply port forming substrate 21, a common ink chamber forming substrate 25, and a nozzle plate 27 are bonded together by inserting between them thermally fusible films 31 and 32 respectively, in which are formed through holes 45 and 45 at two or more positions, and by also filling the film through holes with an adhesive that is mixed with a gap material G for adjusting the thicknesses of the thermally fusible films when they are fused, so as to form a flow path unit 30; and then the flow path unit 30 and the actuator units 1 are bonded together by inserting between them a thermally fusible film 33, in which are through holes 64 at two or more positions, and by also filling the through holes with an adhesive that is mixed with a gap material G for adjusting the thickness of the thermally fusible film when it is fused.

  • Patent number: 6170940
Abstract: In an ink jet printer, a recording unit in which an ink cartridge is detachably mounted has a cartridge removal preventing member so that the ink cartridge is prevented from being carelessly removed therefrom, and a moving mechanism is provided which, when the recording unit is mounted on the carriage, moves a first electrical connecting section towards a second electrical connecting section so that the first and second electrical connection section are connected to each other with the aid of an energizing member under pressure, and, when the recording head is removed from the carriage, moves the first electrical connecting section away from the second electrical connecting section against the elastic force of the energizing member, whereby the recording head is detachably mounted on the carriage, and the former is positively electrically connected to the latter.

  • Patent number: 5481284
Abstract: A printer using a line-type ink jet recording head. The line-type head has pressure producing chambers formed by dividing nozzle openings extending in a recording paper width direction with vertical side walls and upper and lower ink flow paths which communicate with each other through the pressure producing chambers and extend in a horizontal direction. Each ink flow path has an inlet for replenishing ink and an outlet for discharging the ink. A plurality of pressure producing elements are provided for applying varied pressures to the pressure producing chambers for jetting ink droplets. A sealing member selectively seals the nozzle openings by abutting on the nozzle openings when the recording head has been evacuated to a predetermined position.
