    Abstract: Biaxially-drawn polyester film for fabrication which is characterized in that it is a film comprising polyester in which ethylene terephthalate units and/or ethylene naphthalate units are the chief structural component, and the melting point of said film is 180-270° C., the angle of contact to water is 70°-120°, and the planar orientation coefficient is 0.08-0.15. This film shows outstanding release properties following repeated use, use after fabrication and use in an aqueous environment and, furthermore, it exhibits stable properties with little variation and, in particular, following lamination to metal sheet such as steel or aluminium, when used as the inner face of a fabricated metal can, it is outstanding in its non-stick properties to the contents, and provides a combination of heat resistance and processability.

The film has a breaking elongation in the machine direction. (S MD) and the breaking elongation in the transverse direction (S TD), satisfying the relationships 140%≦(S MD+S TD)/2≦300% and |S MD−S TD|≦60%. The film is capable of lining the interior and/or exterior of food containers, especially on the inner and outer faces of metallic cans, since the film exhibits excellent formability, impact resistance and taste properties.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a film having a good adhesive property comprising a base film and a coated layer formed on at least one surface of the base film. The coated layer comprises a mixture whose main constituents are a polyester resin and a melamine compound, and not less than 60% by weight of constituents forming the coated layer is the polyester resin. Or the concentration of a carboxylic acid of the surface of the coated layer is not less than 0.005 and the concentration of a primary amine of the surface of the coated layer is not less than 0.0015. The film having such a coated layer can indicate an excellent adhesive property for a deposited layer under a high-moisture condition, particularly, in water, and an excellent adhesive property for a printing ink.

    Abstract: A biaxially oriented polyester film is suitable for laminating onto a metallic sheet so as to provide a laminate capable of being formed into a can. The polyester film comprises at least one of:(1) a polyester having a melting point of 246.degree. to 280.degree. C. and being such that when the laminate is formed into a can, then at a neck of the can the film provides an inner 1 to 3 .mu.m portion (a) close to the metallic sheet and an outer 1-3 .mu.m portion (b) remote from the metallic sheet, which said portions (a) and (b) have respective average orientation intensity ratios, as measured by Raman spectrometry, of 6 or less and 8 or more; and(2) a polyester layer (A) of a polyester having at least 93 mol % thereof of units derived from ethylene terephthalate and/or ethylene naphthalate and a polyester layer (B) of a polyester containing an ionomer and which film has a face orientation factor of 0.10 to.0.15.

C.
