  • Patent number: 8493533
Abstract: Light leakage between pixel electrodes over a video signal line in a TN-type liquid crystal display device in which a dot inversion driving is applied with a three o'clock viewing angle is prevented. Pixel electrodes (PX) are formed on both sides of a video signal line (DL) of a first substrate (SUB1), and an end of the pixel electrode (PX) and the video signal line (DL) overlap each other. Over a second substrate (SUB2), a black matrix (BM) is formed in a portion corresponding to the video signal line (DL). By shifting the black matrix BM and the video signal line DL to the left with respect to a gap G between the pixel electrodes PX, it is possible to prevent light leakage caused by a disclination line (DS) which occurs by a horizontal electric field between pixel electrodes (PX).

  • Publication number: 20130021552
Abstract: In a liquid crystal display device, a TFT substrate retains a contact hole that is formed in a passivation film, and is for connecting the TFT and the pixel electrode. And an opposite substrate retains a columnar spacer for ensuring a cell gap, and a columnar projection for misalignment prevention formed at a position corresponding to a position of the contact hole. Accordingly, misalignment between the TFT substrate and the opposite substrate is suppressed, occurrence of uneven brightness due to misalignment between pixel regions and a bright spot caused by shaving of an orientation film is prevented, and a favorable image is obtained.

  • Publication number: 20120218221
Abstract: A touch panel device comprises a touch panel including a capacitance detecting electrode and a resistance detecting electrode formed in a layer below the capacitance detecting electrode, and a control circuit using detection signals detected by the capacitance detecting electrode or the resistance detecting electrode to calculate a contact position on an input surface of the input area. The capacitance detecting electrode includes horizontal capacitance detecting electrodes and vertical capacitance detecting electrodes. A control circuit includes a contact position information generating section which uses detection signals to calculate one or more contact positions and generates information of large/small pressing force at the calculated contact position. With this configuration, it is possible to generate information of large/small pressing force at a contact position, and even when an input surface is contacted simultaneously at plural points, each of the contact positions can be calculated.

  • Publication number: 20120112988
Abstract: Luminance ununiformity and color shading are prevented in a display area of an irregular hexagonal shape formed by cutting-off a corner from a rectangular shape. Sub-pixels are formed in each of regions surrounded by scanning lines and video signal lines and a set of sub-pixels by the number of three define one pixel. The display area is an irregular hexagonal shape containing a display area sloping portion of a shape formed by cutting-off a corner from a rectangular shape. In the display area sloping portion, the number of sub-pixels in the extending direction of the scanning lines changes uniformly for every sub-pixels by the number of three or by the number of a multiple thereof on each side of the display area for one scanning line. The magnitude of the video signal in the source driver can be controlled easily by uniformly changing the number of the sub-pixels.
