  • Publication number: 20030003326
Abstract: A recording medium suitable for magnetic super resolution reproduction and a process for manufacturing the medium are provided, in which land and groove recording is adopted and an intensity of a magnetic field for reproduction is reduced. The recording medium has the land and the groove, both of which are used for recording information. At least one of the land and the groove has an edge portion whose radius of curvature is greater than one sixth of the width of the land or the groove. The radius of curvature of the edge portion is enlarged by the process such as spatter etching of the substrate, deformation of a resist pattern by heating, ozone etching by ultraviolet rays.

  • Patent number: 6452328
Abstract: The present invention provides an electron emission device assured to emit electrons without requiring film thickness control on the order of submicrons and a production method of the electron emission device as well as a display apparatus using the electron emission device. The electron emission device includes a cathode electrode consisting of conductive fine particles adhered directly onto a substrate and electrons are emitted from these conductive fine particles when a predetermined electric field is applied.

  • Patent number: 6346769
Abstract: An electron beam deflection device for a cathode ray tube in which the power for deflecting an electron beam may be reduced easily and convergence may be adjusted easily. The electron beam deflection device has a horizontal deflection yoke and a vertical deflection yoke which are arranged at different positions relative to each other in the fore-and-aft direction. A first core constituting the horizontal deflection yoke is of a flat annular shape. The upper and lower inner surfaces of the first core operate as opposing magnetic poles. A second core constituting the vertical deflection yoke may be of a flat annular shape or of a circular or square annular shape. The forward or rear end of the first core or the forward or rear end of the second core is provided with a cut-out for adjusting the convergence.

  • Patent number: 6116975
Abstract: A field emission cathode manufacturing method is provided which comprise the steps of forming a cathode electrode on a substrate; forming an insulative layer and gate electrode, each having fine holes formed therein, in this order on the cathode electrode; thereafter immersing them in a solution in which particles of an electron-emitting substance is dispersed; and electrically depositing particles of the electron emission substance on the cathode electrode facing the fine holes by an electrophoresis using the cathode electrode as a positive or negative electrode, thereby forming an electron emitter. The wet method is adopted to form the field emission cathode, which permits to considerably reduce the plant and equipment investment and manufacture even a large-screen FED with an improved yield. Also, since the electron missive substance particles are fully exposed, a very low accuracy is allowed in producing the electron emitter.

  • Patent number: 5978327
Abstract: An optical recording medium in which information can be recorded in tracks formed by both lands and grooves provided between lands, and rows of prepits corresponding to preformat information in both adjacent lands and grooves are formed by deviating in the circumferential direction. Counting grooves for counting tracks are formed at both sides of the row of prepits for the land, the prepit for the groove has a depth or width different from that of the groove, the counting groove has a depth or width different from that of the groove, and the prepit for the land is formed narrower and/or shallower than the counting groove.

  • Patent number: 5552663
Abstract: The present invention enlarges the effective display area of a CRT for projecting while maintaining the strength of the panel necessary to allow for normal usage without breaking. The inside portion of the effective display area inside the rectangular display area is of a predetermined radius, and protrudes inward, extending in all directions. The four corners of the display area are outside of the circular boundary line comprised of the standard thickness Tf. Non-display areas H which are outside the boundary line are flat or protuberant, and have a thickness greater than the standard thickness Tf. Accordingly, with the present invention, the effective display area A2 can be made larger than previous effective display areas A1 in the prior art, which could not extend beyond a border that included the four corners, while maintaining overall the necessary strength.
