Abstract: There is described an image forming apparatus, which makes it possible to securely prevent the secret information from leaking out to unauthorized personnel. The apparatus includes: a display section to display a first document that includes secret information; an operating section to designate a concealing position in the first document and establish a disclosable range of the secret information, therefrom; a storage control section to store document data, designation positional information and disclosable range information, while correlating them with each other; an authenticating section to determine whether or not a user coincides with the disclosable range, based on identification information of the user; and a printing section to print either at least a copy of the first document, when the user coincides with the disclosable range, or copies of a second document, when the authenticating section determines that the user does not coincide with the disclosable range.

Abstract: A medium storing a program to make a computer to function as a code detecting device, the code detecting device comprises a base line specifying section to extract edges from a scan image obtained by a process of scanning a printed matter in which at least a one-dimensional bar code or a two dimensional code are printed, to extract straight lines from the extracted edges, and to specify the longest straight line as a base line among the extracted straight lines; and a code detecting section to perform a pattern matching for the scan image based on the base line and to detect the one-dimensional bar code or the two dimensional code.

Abstract: There is described an image communication apparatus capable of supplying a user with the information for making a decision in taking a step against the current network quality. The image communication apparatus includes: a transmission section which transmits image data to an external device via a network; a network quality grasping section which grasps a quality of the network; a progress condition grasping section which grasps a progress condition of a transmission of image data with regard to the image data; and a display section which displays the quality of the network and the progress condition of transmission of the image data during transmission of the image data. Further, the display section displays the quality of the network and the progress condition of transmission of the image data simultaneously, and an estimated remaining time required for completion of a transmission of the image data being transmitted by the transmission section.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes: an image reading device for reading an image of a document to obtain image data; a data communication device connected with a computer for receiving an image data from the computer; a facsimile device connected with a telephone line for receiving an image data through the telephone line; an image memory for storing the image data obtained through the image reading device, the image data obtained through the data communication device, and the image data obtained through the facsimile device; an image memory controller for mediating an access to the image memory in a predetermined priority order for storing and reading the image data among the image reading device, the data communication device, and the facsimile device; and an image forming device for forming the image according to the image data controlled by the image memory controller.

Abstract: In an image forming apparatus provided with an image reader to read an image on an image surface of a document and to output image data corresponding to the image; an image processor to process the image data; an image forming device to successively form images on sheets on the basis of the processed image data; there are further provided a post processing device having a stapling stand on which the sheets are placed and a stapler to staple at a predetermined position on the stapling stand, wherein the predetermined position locates at only a single side of the sheet placed on the stapling stand; and a stapling position selector to select a stapling position on the image formed on the sheets, wherein the image processor processes the image data so that when the sheets are placed on the stapling stand, the stapling position on the image formed on the sheets selected by the stapling position selector coincides with the predetermined position on the stapling stand.
