Patent number: 7636691Abstract: A digital content distribution control method, a digital content reproducing method, and a digital content reproducing apparatus. The digital content distributing side manipulates digital content by encrypting and compressing the same, transmits the manipulated digital content, an encrypted content key, and encrypted billing information to the other party of communication, and distributes to digital content proprietors the digital content usage fees collected based on digital content usage information received from the other party. On the other hand, the digital content reproducing side decrypts, in a single portable terminal, the manipulated digital content by the digital key and decompresses the decrypted digital content for reproduction. At the same time, the reproducing side decrements the billing information according to the use of the content and generates content usage information to be transmitted to the content distributing side.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 2003Date of Patent: December 22, 2009Assignee: Sony CorporationInventor: Koichi Maari

Publication number: 20080215486Abstract: When an IC card is placed in the vicinity of one of a television receiver, a hard disk recorder, and a personal digital assistant (PDA), a card ID stored in the IC card and the profile of each of the television receiver, the hard disk recorder and the PDA are shared, thereby forming a VPN (Virtual Private Network). When the hard disk recorder requests a content delivery server to download a content, the content delivery server sends the content in response. The content is then stored in the hard disk recorder. When the replaying of the stored content on the television receiver is requested, authentication is performed between the hard disk recorder and the television receiver based on the card ID. If the authentication is successfully completed, the content is sent to the television receiver.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 18, 2008Publication date: September 4, 2008Inventor: Koichi Maari

Patent number: 7245937Abstract: When an IC card is placed close to an IC card reader/writer in a hard disk recorder, the hard disk recorder writes the profile thereof including an IP address on the IC card. The hard disk recorder reads a card ID and a profile list including, for example, the profile of a television receiver from the IC card. Based on the card ID and the profile list, the hard disk recorder accesses the television receiver. The hard disk recorder notifies the television receiver of the profile list which is read from the IC card and to which the profile of the hard disk recorder has been newly added. The hard disk recorder thus establishes a virtual private network with the television receiver.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 2002Date of Patent: July 17, 2007Assignee: Sony CorporationInventor: Koichi Maari

Publication number: 20020040332Abstract: A user ordering a customized product accesses a product order managing center via an Internet using a user PC. Then, the user specifies a product, and transmits picture information such as a photograph to be copied onto the product to the product order managing center. The product order managing center generates picture information for displaying a virtual reality space that displays a three-dimensional graphics image picture of the customized product formed by copying a photograph or the like corresponding to the picture information onto the specified product, and then provides the picture information to the user PC via the Internet.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 26, 2001Publication date: April 4, 2002Applicant: SONY CORPORATIONInventors: Koichi Maari, Yoshiaki Kagawa

Patent number: 5545907Abstract: A semiconductor device includes a semiconductor substrate, element isolation films, channel stop diffusion layers, and elements formed on the semiconductor substrate in spaced-apart relation from each other by means of the element isolation films. The element has a floating gate. The element isolation film has such a film thickness of <t> that the conducting type of a portion of the semiconductor substrate under the element isolation film, which is disposed at a position where a control gate is formed on the upper surface of the element isolation film by way of the floating gate, is not inverted, and that the conducting type of a portion of the semiconductor substrate under the element isolation film, which is disposed at a position where the control gate is directly formed on the upper surface of the element isolation film, is inverted. With this arrangement, the elements are separated from each other by each element isolation film having a thinner thickness of <t>.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 1995Date of Patent: August 13, 1996Assignee: Sony CorporationInventor: Koichi Maari
