The valve case is formed with an opening through which the valve assembly can pass and has a lid detachably attached to the valve case by bolts so as to close the opening.     Abstract: A cavity has a longitudinal hollow having opposite open ends. An excitation source, such as a YAG rod, is accommodated in the hollow of the cavity. A hollow, cylindrical rod holder is inserted into each of the opposite open ends of the hollow and is fitted over a corresponding end of the YAG rod. A seal is fitted into a hollow of the rod holder adjacent to a portion of the rod holder fitted over the end of the YAG rod. The seal includes an annular seal body with a U-shaped section, e.g. made from Teflon®, and fitted over an outer periphery of the YAG rod to grip the YAG rod, as well as a spring fitted in a groove of the seal body provided by the U-shaped section so as to circumferentially surround a gripped portion of the YAG rod.

Then, in the instruction execution cycle of the condition execution instruction, a register (B) introduced the value on the data bus when upon consistency of the condition. As a result, even before a condition flag (Z) changes as a result of execution of the instruction for generating the condition in the instruction execution cycle, the condition execution instruction can be decoded. Thus, the processor may omit an instruction other than “condition generation instruction or condition execution instruction” which was conventionally required.

    Abstract: For an engine for which fuel supply is cut off in predetermined deceleration conditions, the catalyst temperature of a catalytic converter is inferred and the amount of intake air is measured. If the catalyst temperature is high and also the amount of intake air is great, then the cutting off of fuel supply is prohibited, and instead fuel combustion is performed under rich conditions. Since during fuel supply cut off the amount of oxygen supplied to the catalytic converter is relatively increased, and the temperature of the catalyst becomes elevated due to reaction between this oxygen and the catalyst within the catalytic converter, accordingly this increase of the catalyst temperature is prevented by prohibiting fuel supply cut off in such conditions in which elevation of the temperature of the catalyst can easily occur.

    Abstract: An engine is equipped with a mechanism for supplying supplementary air into an exhaust conduit upstream of a catalytic converter in order to increase catalytic activity thereof. An incremental proportion for fuel supply during this supply of supplementary air is determined so as to keep the concentration of oxygen upstream of the catalytic converter substantially at a predetermined value which corresponds to an air/fuel ratio on the lean side of stoichiometric. Further, the amount of fuel supplied is corrected according to the greater of this incremental proportion and an incremental proportion which is determined according to the temperature of the engine. By doing this, the oxygen concentration in the vicinity of the intake of the catalytic converter is maintained at the predetermined value which is lean, and the catalyst is activated at an early stage.
