  • Patent number: 6681543
Abstract: A reinforcement rib is provided at the reverse side of the elongated side molding in longitudinal direction and a portion of the reinforcement rib is elevated to form a welding rib. In the clip as an attachment member, a rib hole is provided for inserting the welding rib therein and the open side of the rib hole from which the welding rib is projecting is formed with a larger bore. The side molding body is integrally formed with the attachment member by housing a dislocation preventing portion formed by heat riveting a tip end of the welding rib inserted into the rib hole of the attachment member. Thus integrated side molding with the attachment member is attached to the outer panel of the vehicle by the leg portion provided at the attachment member.

  • Patent number: 6641194
Abstract: A vehicle exterior component includes an unwoven fabric having a noise absorbing function and an additional layer attached to the unwoven fabric. The unwoven fabric includes main fibers and binder fibers. The melting point of the binder fibers is lower than that of the main fibers. The unwoven fabric further includes a mesh structure in which the main fibers and the binder fibers are intertwined and welded to each other. The mesh structure is obtained by pressing a fiber web in which the main fibers and the binder fibers are intertwined. The unwoven fabric is formed into a predetermined outer shape. The additional layer has a function other than the noise absorbing function.

  • Patent number: 6248412
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a luster resin molding such as an automobile side molding or the like is disclosed. The luster resin molding has a molding body formed of luster synthetic resin and is elongated in a specific direction, and a positioning boss is formed integrally with the back surface of the molding body and erected substantially perpendicularly to the back surface of the molding body. A slide core for molding the positioning boss is moved to mold the positioning boss integrally with the molding body after synthetic resin injected in the longitudinal direction of the molding body has passed through a boss position where the positioning boss will be formed.

  • Patent number: 5712003
Abstract: Provided is a blow-molded article which can be readily formed with good Gloss and with substantially no surface unevenness, even without application of surface coating, and which can be used as a finished product without further treatment. The blow-molded article has a base layer and a surface layer. The base layer is formed from a thermoplastic resin material having a melt index (MI) of about 0.05-2.0 and a flexural modulus of 1,470 MPa (15,000 kgf/cm.sup.2) or more. The surface layer is formed from a colored or transparent thermoplastic resin material having an MI of about 1-30 provided that it is higher than that of the base layer, and excellent weather resistance. The thermoplastic resins used to form the base and surface layers should be resins of the same family.

  • Patent number: 5288450
Abstract: A process for dimensionally stabilizing an article molded from a synthetic resin material, such as PVC. The molded article is subjected to a first cooling treatment to cool the article at a temperature lower than the glass transition temperature Tg of the synthetic resin followed by a heating treatment at a temperature higher than the glass transition temperature Tg and then is subjected to a second cooling treatment again at a temperature lower than the glass transition temperature Tg. Following such treatment steps, the molded article, such as side molding for automobiles, have less variation in dimensions and less shrinkage after molding in use.
