  • Patent number: 4868362
Abstract: A microwave oven comprises a cooling system and a magnetic shield system applied to a plurality of circuit elements. The cooling system comprises a compartment through which air can pass. The compartment is formed by at least one printed circuit board carrying a plurality of circuit elements and a supporting member for supporting the printed circuit board. The circuit elements are cooled by the flow of the air. In addition, the circuit elements are magnetically shielded from a magnetic field generation device such as a magnetic card reader/writer and a high voltage transformer by a shield member. It is possible that the circuit elements are protected from very large quantities of heat emitted by the high voltage transformer. The magnetic card reader/writer may be provided for reading/cooking program information from a magnetic card and writing the same on it. The microwave oven should be controlled according to the cooking program information for cooking purposes.

  • Patent number: 4812617
Abstract: A microwave oven comprises a screen plate covering a high voltage transformer positioned on the bottom of an outer housing. An inlet window is formed in the bottom between the screen plate and the high voltage transformer. An air duct is produced in a gap between the screen plate and the high voltage transformer. The screen plate carries at least one electric component. A printed circuit board supporting a plurality of circuit elements such as a semiconductor chip, etc., is separated from the high voltage transformer by the screen plate. In addition to the high voltage transformer, the screen plate containing the electrical component disposed thereon is cooled by air flowing through the air duct, the air being circulated with the help of a cooling blower. The air also serves to cool a magnetron operated to control the microwave oven.

  • Patent number: 4591682
Abstract: A configuration of the improved turntable drive unit of a microwave oven comprising; a choke hole provided in the back of the bottom plate of the oven functioning as a coupling receiver to hold the coupling that freely rotates, and the coupling holder being engaged with the output shaft connects the coupling shaft to the output shaft. The improved configuration simplifies the connection of the output shaft and the coupling unit of the turntable drive unit, thus eventually making it possible to achieve a compact-size drive unit and cost reduction as a result of the eliminated conventional parts.

  • Patent number: 4559428
Abstract: An oven door in a microwave oven contains a door frame having a choke mechanism formed therein. A choke cover for covering the choke mechanism is secured to the door frame. The choke cover is made of a wave absorbing material. A portion of the choke cover is extended to cover one surface of the door frame so that the extended portion of the choke cover contacts a front end of the oven wall when the oven door is closed. That is, the extended portion of the choke cover functions as a wave absorber for preventing the leakage of the microwave energy from the microwave oven.

  • Patent number: 4453690
Abstract: A combined microwave oven and a range hood, namely a space saver, is mounted on a wall in a kitchen through the use of a mounting assembly. The mounting assembly includes a mounting plate secured to the wall. A pair of engaging projections are formed at the bottom of the mounting plate. A pair of engaging indents are formed at the bottom of a rear wall of the space saver so that the space saver is first supported by the engaging projections and rotated to contact the mounting plate. A coupling member and an engaging member are provided at the space saver and the mounting plate, respectively, so that the space saver is tightly secured to the mounting plate which is secured to the wall.
