  • Publication number: 20070109346
Abstract: An ink jet printing apparatus is provided in which ink absorbers, capable of performing their function to the fullest extent to quickly absorb an ink that tends to coagulate, are installed to prevent an interior of the printing apparatus and the back of a print medium from being contaminated. To this end, the printing apparatus has an ink absorber that contains a coagulation inhibitor capable of inhibiting the coagulation of colorant contained in the ink. This arrangement inhibits the coagulation of the colorant on the surface or in the interior of the absorber, allowing the colorant to be absorbed quickly and uniformly into the interior of the absorber. Therefore, problems caused by a deposition of the colorant on the surface of the absorber or by a degraded absorbing capability can be alleviated, thus keeping the image output in good condition.

  • Publication number: 20060176331
Abstract: A width A of the scanning area of the ink ejection orifices and a width B of the scanning area of the reacting liquid ejection orifices are respectively set as A =(n?a)×n p and B=n×p, while amount of the feeding of the printing sheet during each scan corresponds to the width of the scanning area of the reacting liquid ejection orifices, that is, A=(n?a)×p. With this system, the width of the scanning area, wherein ejection of the reacting liquid precedes ejection of the ink, is made shorter by C=a×p than the width of following scanning area; the scanning area having the width C is scanned two times by the row of the ink ejection orifices, and the thinning process is applied to this area having the width C.

  • Publication number: 20060109326
Abstract: An ink jet printing method and apparatus are provided which, even when an ink containing a colorant with a coagulating property is applied to a glossy print medium; enable to keep the glossiness of the print medium from being degraded. For this purpose, when forming an image on a glossy print medium, a coagulation inhibiting liquid for inhibiting a coagulation of ink is applied to at least a part of an area on the print medium where the ink is applied. This suppresses the coagulation of ink on the print medium surface and assures a quick spreading and soaking of ink. As a result, the surface of the glossy print medium can be kept smooth, retaining its glossiness.

  • Publication number: 20060109322
Abstract: An ink jet printing apparatus is provided which can produce an image in good condition without contaminating the interior of the printing apparatus or the back of the print medium if the “marginless printing” using an ink that tends to coagulate is performed. To that end, a step is provided which applies to the ink absorber the coagulation inhibiting liquid that inhibits a colorant contained in the ink from coagulating. This suppresses the coagulation of the colorant on the surface of the absorber, allowing the colorant to quickly soak into the absorber. Therefore, the colorant is prevented from depositing on the absorber surface, alleviating the problems associated with the colorant deposit.

  • Patent number: 7048356
Abstract: A method and apparatus for ink jet printing enables a high grade image with the reduced ununiformity of colors to be inexpensively printed. A scan of a print head is executed to apply a reacting liquid to a print medium so that the number of reacting liquid dots impacting a unit area is reduced as the scan moves from a printing start-point of the reacting liquid to a printing end-point. Then, a scan of the print head is executed to apply the coloring inks to the area printed with the reacting liquid. Simultaneously, the reacting liquid is applied to an area which precedes by one band the area printed with coloring inks. Then, the coloring inks are applied. Simultaneously, the reacting liquid is applied to the area which precedes by one band the area printed with coloring inks. An image is formed by repeating the above steps.

  • Publication number: 20050200649
Abstract: An ink jet printing apparatus can prevent or suppress the generation, by a reaction liquid and ink, of a reaction product on the face surface of a discharge head, and can remove the ink, the reaction liquid or the reaction product adhering to the face surface so as to constantly maintain a stable printing quality. Immediately before a printing operation is initiated, an anti-coagulation liquid is sprayed on the face surface of a discharge head, and the discharge head performs the discharge operation (printing operation) with the anti-coagulation liquid applied to the face surface. When the printing operation has been completed, or when the printing of a predetermined amount of data has been performed, the face surface of the discharge head is wiped by blades to remove the ink and the reaction liquid. Since the anti-coagulation liquid is applied to the face surface in advance, the generation of the reaction product on the face surface is prevented or suppressed.
