  • Patent number: 6836387
Abstract: A carriage arm and a hard disk drive unit including the carriage arm, where the carriage arm includes a head slider mounting part and a voice coil attachment part integrally formed with each other by a metal plate being press punched so that the head slider mounting part and the voice coil attachment part are arranged opposite to each other with respect to a rotational axis of the carriage arm. Additionally, the head slider mounting part defines a first plane and the voice coil attachment part defines a second plane that is different from the first plane, and where the head slider mounting part and the voice coil attachment part are connected to each other by a bent portion.

  • Publication number: 20020191330
Abstract: A 3.5-inch hard disk drive unit has small power consumption and can be incorporated into a small space. The hard disk has a diameter of 3.5 inches. A motor rotates the hard disk. A carriage arm has a head slider mounted on an end thereof, and is reciprocally rotated by a magnetic circuit. An electronic circuit part controls the mechanism part. The electronic circuit part has an interface part, which is prepared for a 2.5-inch hard disk drive unit, so as to interface with an upper order system.

  • Patent number: 6069318
Abstract: A formed wire for an actuator including a frame having a first opening formed at one end portion, a second opening formed at another end portion, a slit formed between the first opening and the second opening, and a plurality of positioning holes. A wire bundle formed by twisting a plurality of wires is inserted through the slit and thereby held by the frame. The wire bundle has a first end portion exposed to the first opening and a second end portion exposed to the second opening. The wires at the first end portion are separated from each other and bonded by adhesion to a first frame edge defining the first opening, and the wires at the second end portion are separated from each other and bonded by adhesion to a second frame edge defining the second opening.

  • Patent number: 5691861
Abstract: An actuator arm assembly includes an actuator arm rotatably mounted on a base and having a first surface and a second surface, a first suspension fixed at a base end portion thereof to the first surface of the actuator arm at a front end portion thereof, a first head mounted on a front end portion of the first suspension, a second suspension fixed at a base end portion thereof to the second surface of the actuator arm at the front end portion thereof, and a second head mounted on a front end portion of the second suspension. The actuator arm assembly further includes a first lead wire bundle connected to the first head, a second lead wire bundle connected to the second head, and a projection formed integrally with the actuator arm so as to project from a side surface of the actuator arm in a direction substantially parallel to the first and second surfaces. The first and second lead wire bundles are juxtaposed in the direction substantially parallel to the first and second surfaces.
