  • Patent number: 7561638
Abstract: A demodulation apparatus that can support various oscillation frequencies. The portable phone device includes a frequency synthesizer for generating a local-oscillation signal having a local oscillation frequency for converting the frequency of an input receiving signal into an intermediate frequency based on an oscillation signal generated by an TCXO and a synchronization hold portion provided with an NCO for generating a signal having a predetermined frequency based on the oscillation signal generated by TCXO. The frequency synthesizer makes the local oscillation frequency variable by setting the dividing ratio variable in accordance with an arbitrary oscillation frequency so that the intermediate frequency remains within a predetermined range regardless of the oscillation frequency, and an NCO makes the frequency of the signal variable by setting the dividing ration variable in accordance with the oscillation frequency.

  • Patent number: 7352323
Abstract: A positional information determining apparatus capable of reducing power consumption markedly in simple structure in radio transmission of positioning results to a navigation device. Satellite waves S1 to S4 are received from a plurality of GPS satellites 2 to 5 and analyzed at prescribed time intervals, thus obtaining positional data D5 denoting own current position. Only when positional data D5 can be determined, the positional data D5 is transmitted by radio to the navigation device that uses the positional data D5. Thus it is made possible to reduce power consumption with certainty because radio transmission is made only when positional data D5 can be obtained.

  • Patent number: 7209514
Abstract: Disclosed is a GPS receiving apparatus including a synchronous acquisition unit and a synchronous hold unit. The synchronous acquisition unit detects a correlation between a spread code of a received signal from a GPS satellite and a spread code provided by the apparatus in order to detect a phase of the spread code of the received signal and a carrier frequency of the received signal. The synchronous hold unit has a plurality of channels and allocates one of the channels to one of a plurality of GPS satellites. The synchronous hold unit also establishes initial values based on the spread code phase of the received signal following detection by the synchronous acquisition unit as well as on the likewise-detected carrier frequency of the received signal, before starting synchronous hold of the spread code and the carrier frequency regarding the signal from the GPS satellite in question while decoding the signal from the GPS satellite.

  • Patent number: 6907346
Abstract: A GPS receiver can periodically obtain range data without degrading the performance such as positioning sensitivity and positioning speed and conserve energy consumption. Supplied with IF data from a frequency conversion section 4, a synchronization hold section (6) acquires synchronization of a carrier frequency and phase synchronization of a C/A code, holds the acquired state, and obtains necessary information such as range data. When range data is obtained, a switch (23) is turned off to stop supplying the power to the synchronization hold section (6). A control section (7) executes a positioning operation using the obtained range data and the like, finds and outputs positioning information indicative of a current position. Thereafter, the switch (23) is turned on to restart the synchronization hold section (6). In this manner, control is provided to repeatedly start and stop the synchronization hold section (6).

  • Patent number: 6772065
Abstract: A GPS receiver that is capable of acquiring a GPS signal from a plurality of GPS satellites efficiently and at a high speed, and that is capable of performing a positioning calculation with a high degree of accuracy. The FFT processing result of the addition result from the PN code, stored in the memory, is multiplied by the FFT processing result of the IF data (the received data), stored in the memory, and by inverse-diffusing this result, a correlative value is obtained. By repeating this process while changing the combination of the PN codes to be added, and the synchronization acquisition processing, by a plurality of PN codes, is performed quickly with only a small amount of processing based on these results.

  • Patent number: 6466163
Abstract: A GPS receiver and a portable communication apparatus with the timing of demodulation of a GPS received signal received from a satellite in the global positioning system being controlled in accordance with the timing of transmission of a CDMA transmission signal to a base station in a predetermined communication system, so that the GPS received signal can be accurately demodulated, thereby preventing radio waves that occur during transmission of the CDMA transmission signal from interfering with the GPS received signal. Thus, the GPS received signal can be demodulated without deterioration of reception quality.
