    Abstract: In a seat belt retractor, a torsion pipe is disposed inside an annular space between a spool and a torsion bar. One end portion of the torsion pipe is connected to pins, and the other portion engages an externally threaded shaft at a locking base to move axially relative to the externally threaded shaft. When the spool rotates relative to the locking base in the webbing withdrawal direction, the torsion bar and the torsion pipe are both twisted and deformed, so that impact energy is absorbed.

In the child seat, a permission member is formed to cooperate with the connecting portion for allowing the child seat main portion to engage the base only when the base is connected to the vehicle.     Abstract: In a spool, a torsion bar is inserted into an inner hole formed in the spool. The spool has a first slit and a second slit which extend in parallel with each other along the chord direction in the cross section perpendicular to the axis of the inner hole. The end of the webbing is passed through these slits. The end of the webbing is folded back and sewn together to form a loop and a webbing stopper is inserted into the loop made by folding and sewing. The end of the webbing with the webbing stopper engages the second slit.

    Abstract: A buckle device for an infant restraining seat of the present invention includes: a frame member which has a base plate and side plates; an engaging member which is pivotally supported by supporting members formed in the side plates of the frame member and is capable of engaging a pair of tongue plates inserted into the buckle; and a blocking plate which is rotatably supported on the base plate of the frame member and has a blocking member for preventing the pivotal movement of the engaging member when the blocking plate rotates. When only one of the pair of tongue plates is inserted into the buckle, the blocking plate rotates by the insertion of the one of the tongue plates. The blocking member thereby prevents the pivotal movement of the engaging member so as to prevent engagement between the engaging member and the one of the tongue plates. Therefore, it can prevent the false latching between the tongue plates and the buckle.

    Abstract: A polygonal mirror is rotated by a brush motor, and a laser beam deflected by the polygonal mirror is detected by a sensor for generating a signal which determines a printing start position of each scanning line. The rotating speed of the motor is proportional to the frequency of the signal, and when the frequency of the signal becomes equal to a reference value, the motor can be judged to come to a steady rotation state. In a control circuit, the rotating speed of the motor is detected from the frequency of the signal, and the difference between the detected speed and a reference value is calculated and is sent to a comparator. Based on the speed difference and the back electromotive force which occurs in the motor, the comparator controls the driving voltage of the motor.

    Abstract: A restraint and protection seat for an infant is placed on a seat of a vehicle and restrained by a seat belt equipped in the vehicle. The restraint and protection seat is formed of a seat section, an infant restraint device attached to the seat section for holding a body of an infant when the infant is seated in the seat section, and a belt engaging device attached to a back surface of a seat back portion of the seat section. The belt engaging device includes an elongated base portion having a first pointed waveform surface, and a hook portion having a second pointed waveform surface corresponding to the first pointed waveform surface. The hook portion is spaced from the base portion to form a space therebetween smaller than the thickness of a seat belt in the vehicle. Thus, when the seat belt is inserted into the space between the base portion and the hook portion, the seat section is securely fixed to the seat belt.

    Abstract: A mechanical igniter for a gas generator has a weight, a latch lever and a firing pin as movable elements to fire a percussion cap attached to the gas generator in response to acceleration, and further has a restraint member and a controller therefor as a safety device for making the movable elements immovable. The controller can be activated by attaching the mechanical igniter to the vehicle body, or removing a belt stopper after the mechanical igniter has been attached to the vehicle body, or fastening a seat belt to the occupant's body. Thus, the restraint member is released when the mechanical igniter is attached to the vehicle body, or when the seat belt system is used, thereby automatically and safely releasing the safety device for the igniter.

    Abstract: A pretensioner for vehicle seat belt systems comprises a belt-pulling member connected to a belt system component, a driving device for moving the belt-pulling member along a predetermined path in a direction to apply pretension to the belt, and a return-prevention device for preventing the belt-pulling member from moving in a direction such as to release the belt pretension. The return-prevention device includes a pawl coupled to the belt-pulling member, a support member having a set of ratchet teeth engageable by the pawl and a spring coupled to the pawl for biasing the pawl in a direction to engage it with a tooth of the set of ratchet teeth. The spring is a leaf spring having a base portion attached to the pawl and a tongue portion extending from the base portion and engageable with one of a series of ratchet teeth on the support member upon movement of the belt-pulling member and the pawl in the release direction.

    Abstract: A rotary actuator-operated seat belt pretensioner comprises a frame, a belt take-up shaft rotatably mounted on the frame, and a rotary actuator mounted on the frame and including a pressure chamber, a rotating member and a gas generator for supplying pressurized gas to the pressure chamber to impart rotation to the rotating member. A clutch is interposed between the rotating member and the take-up shaft. The pressure chamber of the actuator is annular and includes an inner wall defining a space within the chamber, and the clutch is received in the space within the chamber. The driving force of the rotating member produced by gas pressure supplied to the pressure chamber is transmitted to the take-up shaft by the clutch, and rotation of the take-up shaft winds a segment of the belt onto the shaft and thereby tightens the belt.

    Abstract: A pretensioner for a vehicle seat belt system comprises a fixed support member and an axially acting driving device having an output member that is movable along an axis upon operation of the driving device. The driving device is supported by the support member for movement relative to it along the axis. A trigger mechanism mounted on the driving device normally restrains the driving device by releasably coupling the output member thereof to the support member. The trigger mechanism is released in response to acceleration of an inertia mass greater than a predetermined value. The inertia mass for releasing the trigger is the driving device and the trigger mechanism, which move relative to the support member. A traction member is engaged by the output member of the driving device and transmits movement of the output member to the belt system component upon operation of the driving device.
