  • Patent number: 7266443
Abstract: A storage section (160) stores a traffic jam prediction table containing a plurality of date classification IDs for classifying data for predetermined dates and time series data obtained by statistically processing past traffic conditions correlated to the date classification IDs in terms of temporal elements of the dates. A memory (170) stores calendar templates, each containing a plurality of pieces of date information and classification ID numbers, each of which is an ID number that corresponds to the date indicated by one of the pieces of date information and is same as one of the date classification IDs of the traffic jam prediction table. A navigation device (100) has a calendar modifier that appropriately modifies any of the classification ID numbers of the calendar templates.

  • Publication number: 20070185644
Abstract: The present invention provides a navigation apparatus, a computer program and a screen control method that can reduce the amount of power to be consumed by screen display operations while information is properly displayed on the screen for a user. When the information to be provided to the user is displayed on the screen of a display device, a system control device determines whether the situation allows the driver to look at the screen of the display device, on the basis of vehicle moving conditions such as the vehicle speed, the traveling direction, and the angle of a turn of the steering wheel detected by a GPS receiving device and various sensors, or map data. If the system control device determines that the situation does not allow the driver to look at the screen, a display control device reduces the luminance of the screen of the display device.

  • Patent number: 7167795
Abstract: A number of traveling routes are determined by computations, using a route processor and map information on the basis of current position information and destination information. The rating of the current traffic jam or the predicted traffic jam on each of the traveling routes is recognized based on a traffic jam prediction table and a calendar table obtained by statistically processing VICS data and past traffic conditions in terms of temporal elements. The number of traveling routes to which candidate traveling routes are narrowed is increased as the traffic jam rating is raised. Thus, the number of candidate traveling routes from which a user can select the actual traveling route is increased as the traffic jam rating rises in order to accommodate a situation where secondary traffic jams can take place on any candidate traveling route, thereby providing the user with useful traveling route information and appropriate guidance.

  • Publication number: 20060212913
Abstract: In a remote control system to control remotely a controlled device through a network from a terminal at a remote place, the controlled device stores a channel table associating broadcast station numbers recognized by a remote control device and allocated to each broadcast station with channel numbers recognized by the controlled device and allocated to each broadcast station. This allows channel numbers to be designated remotely according to an area, even though a relation between broadcast station numbers and channel numbers is different depending on an area. The remote controller can read the channel table of the controlled device and correct the channel table according to user's operation on the terminal.

  • Publication number: 20060192790
Abstract: A remote control system in which an instruction from a remote terminal is transmitted to a controlled device through a remote control device. Device unique data which is information specific to the controlled device is stored in the remote control device or the controlled device. The remote control device generates WEB display data to be displayed on the remote terminal based on a device type of the controlled device and the device unique data. Alternatively, the remote control device generates WEB display data based on the device unique data stored in the controlled device. Thus, even when a new type of controlled device is developed, or even when the function for the controlled device is extended, it does not need to modify programs for achieving functions of the remote control device. Accordingly, it facilitates a change of an operational screen of the terminal in response to those changes.

  • Publication number: 20050285714
Abstract: An apparatus and a method of remote control which can enable real time operation of a device in home from a terminal device at remote location through a network are provided. A first server (20) communicates with a terminal device (10) through Internet (100) and generates device control data for controlling the device (50a , . . . ). A second server (30) communicates with the device (50a , . . . ) in a predetermined manner to acquire and store a specific address of the device, generates transmission data which is for transmission of the received device control data from the first server (20) to the device (50a , . . . ) based on the specific address, and transmits the transmission data to the device (50a , . . . ). This allows real time control of the device from the terminal device (10) through the network to be realized.

  • Publication number: 20050283805
Abstract: A processing section (250) of a recording/reproducing device (200) acquires content data of a content set by a user, and acquires program-linked data which links with content-main-data, from the content data. The processing section (250) acquires set keyword data stored in a memory (240), and determines whether or not the program-linked data includes a BML file having a character string related to a keyword set by the user. If it is determined that a BML file having the related character string is included, the processing section (250) specifies and acquires content-main-data with which the BML file links, from the content-main-data acquired.

  • Publication number: 20050226209
Abstract: This LAN adapter is for connecting an information appliance to a LAN, and writes the default IP address stored in ROM through nonvolatile memory to working memory as the IP address of the LAN adapter only when it is determined by a connection detector for determining if the LAN adapter is connected to the LAN that there is not another device on the LAN connected to the LAN adapter. If it is determined that there is a device on the LAN connected to the LAN adapter, the content of the nonvolatile memory is written to the working memory.
