  • Patent number: 6137529
Abstract: An apparatus for recognizing a position, a diameter and a width of a cylindrical object such as a coil made of thin steel plate being wound while observed by a TV camera in unmanned manner. The coil is irradiated with laser light while the laser light is moved in the direction perpendicular to an axial direction of the coil. An image data by the laser light is obtained from a difference of image data in the case where the coil is irradiated with the laser light and in the case where the coil is not irradiated with the laser light. The image data is analyzed to obtain data such as the position and the like. In order to improve an S/N ratio of the image data, the difference signal is binarized and then integrated for a frame. Influence of the background light can be minimized and a memory capacity for the image data can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 5436094
Abstract: A bulky synthetic pulp sheet which does not lose its shape even after having absorbed a liquid and has excellent resistance against to chemicals such as acids and alkalis, and a process for preparing the same, which pulp sheet contains 5 to 95% by weight of a synthetic pulp having a drainage factor over a range of from 0.1 to 2.0 sec/g, and 5 to 50% by weight of a polymer binder having a melting point lower than a melting point or a decomposition temperature of said synthetic pulp, the sheet being obtained by subjecting a mixture of the synthetic pulp and fibrous binder to wet laid sheet-making followed by a heat treatment, and having an apparent density of 0.15 g/cm.sup.3 or smaller under the load of 200 g/cm.sup.2.

  • Patent number: 4833011
Abstract: A synthetic pulp comprising a pulp fiber of a thermoplastic resin and, adhering to the surface thereof, a polypropylene glycol having a molecular weight of 200 to 10,000, preferably together with a phenolic antioxidant and/or a phosphorous acid ester type antioxidant, has an excellent hydrophilic property even in the dry state and a good wettability or rewettability. This pulp forms a good slurry without bubbling when thrown in water. When a mixture of this synthetic pulp and other hydrophilic short fiber is subjected to a heat-fusion treatment, a fibrous molded articles having an excellent hydrophilic property, a good wettability or rewettability and a high wet strength is obtained, and this fibrous molded article is especially valuable as an absorbent.

  • Patent number: 4655877
Abstract: An absorbent web structure composed of a mixture of 5 to 50% by weight of short fibers of a thermoplastic resin rendered hydrophilic with a surface-active agent and 95 to 50% by weight of cellulosic fibers, said thermoplastic short fibers being melt-bonded to impart self-supporting property to the web structure; characterized in that(i) said thermoplastic short fibers are rendered hydrophilic by forming an aqueous slurry of the fibers containing a nonionic surface-active agent and then dehydrating the slurry, and(ii) said nonionic surface-active agent has (a) an HLB value of from 2 to 20 and (b) a melting point equal to, or higher than, the temperature of the slurry at the time of the dehydrating treatment described in (i) above.
