  • Patent number: 7123220
Abstract: An organic EL display device includes display pixels forming a display screen, scanning lines disposed along rows of the display pixels, signal lines disposed along columns of the display pixels, and a power supply section which supplies a power-supply voltage to the display pixels. Each of the display pixels includes a luminous element, a pixel switch which receives a video signal from a corresponding one of the signal lines in response to a scanning signal from a corresponding scanning line and a driving element which is connected between the luminous element and the power supply section to supply a driving current corresponding to the video signal from the pixel switch to the luminous element. Particularly, each luminous element is connected to the power supply section via a dimmer switch portion.

  • Patent number: 7030840
Abstract: A display device comprises pixels PX each of which has one of different luminosity characteristics, signal line blocks each including a preset number of signal lines X connected to the pixels PX having a common one of the luminosity characteristics, and a signal line driving circuit which drives the signal lines X according to a video signal. Particularly, the signal line driving circuit includes a selection circuit which sequentially selects the signal line blocks in an effective picture period of the video signal and an external driving unit which drives the preset number of signal lines included in the signal line block selected by the selection circuit.

  • Publication number: 20040104870
Abstract: A display device includes an organic EL panel having a plurality of pixels arrayed in a matrix. Each pixel includes an organic EL element, a drive control element that causes a current to flow in the organic EL element according to a pixel video signal, a capacitor, which is connected to a control terminal of the drive control element, and that temporarily stores the potential difference between the threshold voltage of the drive control element and a reset signal, and a pixel switch connected via the capacitor to the control terminal of the drive control element. In particular, the display device includes a reset signal supply section that supplies to the pixels different reset signals associated with the main wavelengths of light to be emitted from the organic EL elements.

  • Patent number: 6496169
Abstract: The present invention is a liquid crystal display device in which liquid crystal pixels are arranged in an active matrix, and the device includes a timing control circuit for driving an active matrix type liquid crystal display device, in which the superimposing time between adjacent shift resistor output signals from the shift resistors connected in series, is detected by the logic circuit, and in the case where the superimposition of signals occurs as the output of a signal of the subsequent shift resist is started during a signal is being outputted from one previous shift resistor, a timing signal for forcibly turning off the output of the previous shift resistor on the basis of a detected signal by the logic circuit when the subsequent shift resistor is turned on, such as to control the switching operation of the switch for driving the liquid crystal device.

  • Patent number: 6417847
Abstract: The present invention provides a flat-panel display device that does not cause deterioration of display quality such as partial decline of contrast. A signal line driving circuit of the flat-panel display device according to the present invention comprises a shift register, a shift control circuit, an OR gate, a buffer, and an analog switch. The shift register has a first register group and a second register group. The first register group shifts start pulses in order. The second register group shifts the output of the register at the last stage of the first register group in order. When the shift pulse is outputted from the register at the last stage of the second register group, all of the analog switches turns ON, and in synchronism with this timing, all of the video bus line are set at an intermediate voltage, thereby precharging all of the signal lines to the intermediate voltage during a blanking period.
