  • Patent number: 9114460
Abstract: A guide pad with high flexibility of arrangement is provided. The guide pad in a plate-like shape is provided, including an upper surface and a lower surface which face each other, and a side surface extending between the upper surface and the lower surface, and being removably attached to a tool body of a cutting tool, in which the upper surface includes at least one guide surface that extends in a longitudinal direction of the guide pad and curves convexly, and the upper surface and the lower surface have left-right asymmetrical external shapes, respectively.

  • Patent number: 9028179
Abstract: Chips are segmented to have a desired width and the chip controllability is improved and the tool rigidity is improved. A drilling tool is provided that includes: a tool body; a chip discharge groove formed at the outer periphery of the tool body; at least one sub-groove formed at an inner face facing the front side in the tool rotation direction T of the chip discharge groove; a rake face; a tip end flank face; and a cutting edge formed at a ridge line at which the tip end flank face intersects with the rake face. The plurality of rake faces form a step-like shape having at least one step section. The drilling tool is configured so that the turnup section of the sub-groove is turned up in a different direction from the direction along which the turnup section of the chip discharge groove is turned up.

  • Patent number: 8770896
Abstract: A reamer has a center axis and includes a single cutting edge, provided for a cutting part that is arranged at a leading end side. The reamer includes three guide pads in the cutting part. The first guide pad is formed so as to project to the side almost opposite that where the single cutting edge is formed. The second guide pad is arranged in one area of areas, along a peripheral face of the cutting part, that are located between the first guide pad and the single cutting edge and that are directed toward sides opposite each other, and the third guide pad is arranged in the other area.

  • Publication number: 20120063858
Abstract: A drill body of an indexable drill includes: a chip discharging groove which discharges chips produced by a cutting insert on a wall surface defining the chip discharging groove; and an insert attachment seat on which the cutting insert formed in a front end side, in a rotational axis direction, of a first wall surface of the chip discharging groove that faces a drill rotation direction is detachably mounted. A chip formation portion is formed which includes at least any of a plurality of protruding portions that protrudes outward from a second wall surface and a plurality of concave portions that is concave inward from the second wall surface, at least in a front end portion of the second wall surface of the chip discharging groove that faces a rear side of the drill rotation direction.
