Publication number: 20060048014Abstract: The invention is a copy processing technique in a data processing system, which can simultaneously achieve long-distance communication and no data loss when disaster occurs. Among a production site, a local site, and a remote site, long-distance remote copying from a disk array device at the production site to a disk array device at the remote site without data loss is achieved via a disk array device at the local site in combination with synchronous remote copying and asynchronous remote copying. Also, in the disk array devices at the local site and the remote site, copying is performed through a replica function. Even if the production site is affected by disaster, tasks can be continued at the local site having the same data as that of the production site and at the remote site a long distance away from the production site.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 22, 2004Publication date: March 2, 2006Inventors: Masamitsu Takahashi, Koji Ozawa, Takao Satoh

Patent number: 6993636Abstract: Disk units operable under control of different disk control units hold the same data. Under circumstances in which data is duplexed, when data is duplexed again after data that is generally saved as backup data was accessed for reading and writing, in order to efficiently duplex data, update places of both original data and sub-data updated during the duplexing of data is interrupted are registered on an access information management table of an original disk control unit. When the original disk control unit receives a duplexing resume command, the duplexing of data may be efficiently reorganized by copying original data corresponding to an access place produced during the duplexing is interrupted from information of the access information management table to the backup data or by copying the backup data to the original data.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 2003Date of Patent: January 31, 2006Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Hitoshi Shiozawa, Koji Ozawa, Takahisa Kimura, Kazuhito Suishu, Kosaku Kambayashi, Katsunori Nakamura

Patent number: 6922762Abstract: A clustering storage system, which enables to operate a plurality of storage system units as a single storage system, presents connection information between clustering storage systems to a user and receives data to be backed up and an instruction about a path between the clustering storage systems from the user. The clustering storage system uses load information or a transfer speed of a data connection line between the storage system units to determine a path between the clustering storage systems used for backup and a storage system unit for holding a backup copy so that the data transfer between the storage system units becomes minimum. Besides, the clustering storage system mainly uses the determined path for backing up the data.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 2002Date of Patent: July 26, 2005Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Yusuke Hirakawa, Hiroshi Arakawa, Koji Ozawa

Publication number: 20030002827Abstract: The present invention is provided for fusion splicing optical fibers with low splice loss even when a shape of a discharge beam for the splicing is distorted. In the present invention, a preliminary discharge is performed with the optical fibers outside a discharge area and an image of the discharge beam thereof is picked up. Based on this image, brightness distributions of the discharge beam are estimated on a plurality of lines in a Z direction that are set in different positions in an X direction, and a discharge center of the beam is found from the plurality of brightness distributions. Then, the abutment portion of the optical fibers is positioned at the discharge center, and a main discharge is performed so as to fusion splice the distal ends of the optical fibers.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 5, 2002Publication date: January 2, 2003Inventors: Koji Ozawa, Hiroyuki Taya

Patent number: 6470432Abstract: In a data processing system in which main and sub disk storage devices are under the control of individual each disk control devices, the write processing time is reduced by selectively sending data according to the command-chaining time between main and sub disk control devices. A section for judging cable length and function of the sub disk control device 36 estimates command-chaining time between a pair of main and sub disk storage devices. The channel command analyzing section 31 estimates the number of records to be transferred and the length of a record using a LOCATE RECORD command. The command judgment section for the sub disk control device 32 optimizes the command-chain to be issued to the sub disk control device using the above-mentioned information. Then, the section for issuing command to the sub disk control device 35 issues the optimized command chain. Thus, a shorter transmission time is realized by either sending individual records or an entire track of data.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 2001Date of Patent: October 22, 2002Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Koji Ozawa, Kazuhide Sano, Takeshi Koide, Katsunori Nakamura

Patent number: 6148367Abstract: In allocating an area of a cache memory to each storage unit, proper allocation of the cache memory is made to each storage unit. If the amount of write-after data becomes equal to or more than a threshold value, an allocation limit is set to each disk unit. If CPU issues a data write request requiring the amount of data equal to or more than the allocation limit, the data write request is held in a wait state until the amount of write-after data becomes less than the allocation limit. Therefore, the allocation amount to the disk unit becomes neither too large nor too small. In this manner, proper allocation of the cache memory to each disk unit can be realized.Type: GrantFiled: December 24, 1996Date of Patent: November 14, 2000Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Toshiaki Tsuboi, Akira Yamamoto, Shigeo Honma, Yoshihiro Asaka, Koji Ozawa, Hiroyuki Kitajima, Michio Miyazaki

Patent number: 5847715Abstract: A graphics display system includes a host processor calculating graphic data and providing the graphic data to a graphics processor, and frame memories which store the graphic pixel data and supply display data to display devices. The graphics display system also includes a first register group which stores the graphics data, a second register group which converts and/or stores the data in the first register group, a pixel generator which generates pixels according to the graphic data in the second register group, and a plotter which writes the pixel data generated in the pixel generator in the frame memories. The second register group fetches the data from the first register group when the host processor issues a command for plotting, holds the data previously written by the host processor. At the same time, when the host processor issues a command for plotting, the specified graphic type is written in the graphic processor as well as data calculated based on the first and second register groups.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 1997Date of Patent: December 8, 1998Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Ryo Fujita, Kazuhisa Takami, Mitsuru Soga, Koji Ozawa, Takaharu Morishige, Kazuyoshi Koga

Patent number: 5781199Abstract: A parallel processing method for use with a graphics processor wherein graphics processing is performed by each of configured command processors efficiently in a distributed manner, with a host CPU remaining unaware of the number of command processors. Each command group of a variable length from a host CPU is distributed from an FIFO queue to a plurality of parallelly arranged command processors for parallel processing through any free one of input FIFO queues corresponding to the command processors. Upon command group distribution, an identical serial number is added as a command group serial number to the commands constituting the same command group. The results of processing of individual graphics commands by the command processors are collected via output FIFO queues, which also correspond to the processors, in the order of the command group serial numbers added to the commands before the processed results are graphically drawn.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 1996Date of Patent: July 14, 1998Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Kazunori Oniki, Masahiro Shiraishi, Koji Ozawa, Keisuke Yamane, Shinji Kimura
