A portion of the cathode of the flash discharge tube not including the metal sintered body is inserted into the core of the trigger coil. The reflector, which is connected to the secondary winding of the trigger coil, has a bottom in contact with the outer peripheral surface of the flash discharge tube in such a manner as to cover at least the region extending from the anode to the cathode and the metal sintered body.
