    Abstract: A fixing device includes a first rotatable member with a heater, a second rotatable member contacting the first rotatable member and forming a fixing nip, a pressing unit pressing the first rotatable member to the second rotatable member in a pressing direction, a pair of side boards disposed with a space in the widthwise direction, and first, second and third stays supporting the pair of side boards. The first stay is provided upstream of a center of the fixing nip in the pressing direction and upstream of the center in a feeding direction of a recording material. The second stay is provided upstream of the center in the pressing direction and downstream of the center in the feeding direction. The third stay is provided downstream of the center in the pressing direction and at least one of upstream and downstream of the center in the feeding direction.

The pressing rotary member rotates to press an outer circumferential surface of the film and performs fusing of a toner image on the recording medium. The flange supports the heater. The fusing frame supports the pressing rotary member and has a positioning hole. The pressing member presses the flange. The plate includes a pressure receiving portion and an insertion portion. The pressure receiving portion is pressed by the pressing member and the insertion portion is inserted into a positioning hole and positioned in a first state. The insertion portion is removed from the positioning hole in a second state where the pressing member further contracts from the first state.

A moving mechanism moves the belt unit so as to be movable between a contact position and a spaced position. In addition, a controller executes a process in which one of the belt unit with a new endless belt and a new belt unit with a new endless belt is moved to the contact position, and then, the new endless belt is rotated for a predetermined time by the first rotatable member.
