  • Patent number: 5704315
Abstract: In an engine including a variable timing/lift mechanism for an intake valve, journal portions of a valve-operating cam shaft are supported on cam bearing portions integrally provided in a cylinder head, and an intake rocker shaft is fixed by bolts to rocker shaft fixing portions provided on an upper surface of the cam bearing portions. By bringing opposite sides of intake rocker arms swingably supported on the intake rocker shaft into slidable abutment against positioning faces integrally formed on opposite sides of the cam bearing portions, the intake rocker arms are positioned in a thrust direction. Thus, it is possible to accurately and easily position the intake rocker arms in the thrust direction without the need for a special member.

  • Patent number: 5690082
Abstract: A water passage is provided separately from an intake manifold to interconnect water jackets provided in a front bank and a rear bank of a horizontal V-type engine. An EGR valve is supported on a valve mounting seat which is provided at a front portion of the water passage. A water passageway through which cooling water flows, and a gas passageway through which an EGR gas flows, are defined in the water passage in close proximity to one another. The EGR valve is cooled by cooling wind passed through a fan opening in a radiator and by cooling water flowing through the water passageway. Thus, it is possible to avoid thermal influence on the intake manifold by the EGR valve, and to cool the EGR valve without the need for special cooling means.

  • Patent number: 5316721
Abstract: A heat-resistant alloy having a high creep rupture strength under high-temperature low-stress conditions and excellent resistance to carburization even when used at a high temperature exceeding 1100.degree. C. The alloy comprises, in % by weight, more than 0.1% to less than 1.5% of C, more than 2% to less than 3% of Si, more than 0% to less than 2% of Mn, more than 20% to less than 30% of Cr, more than 25% to less than 40% of Ni, more than 0.6% to less than 2% of Al, and the balance Fe and inevitable impurities. When required, the alloy contains at least one component selected from the group consisting of 0.01 to 0.5% of Zr, up to 0.2% of N, 0.2 to 2.0% of Nb, 0.2 to 2.0% of W and 0.01 to 03% of Ti.

  • Patent number: 4510988
Abstract: A reactor tube for thermally cracking or reforming hydrocarbons comprising a tube member made of Fe-Cr-Ni heat resisting material and a covering layer of self-fluxing alloy fusing to the inner surface of the tube member, the covering layer made of heat resisting material free from Ni or with a low Ni content. The tube member is manufactured by centrifugal casting, and the covering layer is formed by applying the self-fluxing alloy powder by scattering with or without thermit agent or spraying the alloy to the inner surface of the tube member.
