    Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a main assembly to which a cartridge is detachably mountable. The cartridge includes an image bearing member and a supporting member. The cartridge is mountable to the main assembly in the direction of the axis of the image bearing member. An opening is provided in the main assembly for receiving the supporting member and for positioning or regulating the supporting member, with the opening having a V-shaped portion. An urging member is provided for urging the supporting member in a direction that is substantially perpendicular to the axis of the image bearing member.
