  • Patent number: 8601563
Abstract: An encrypted ID takes as its initial value a tag ID that constitutes an original ID of a wireless tag, and is encrypted using an encryption key each time an ID inquiry is received from a reader/writer. Another encrypted ID also takes the tag ID as its initial value, and is encrypted using an encryption key each time an ID inquiry is received. The wireless tag gives confidential variability to the ID by transmitting a combination of the encrypted ID and the another encrypted ID in reply. The reader/writer can obtain the original ID merely by decoding the two encrypted values until they match, and the decoding load does not increase even if the number of wireless tags that are reading targets increases.

  • Patent number: 7039779
Abstract: An access violation of the program is monitored by the access monitor which is a hardware. The access monitor acquires a signal input from the CPU to a memory. The access monitor includes an access permission table as information of the memory region to be permitted to each program, and detects the access violation of the signal from the CPU by referring thereto. In this manner, the unjust access is monitored by the hardware, thereby preventing the unjust access by rewriting in software.

  • Patent number: 6658497
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device connection state recognizing method capable of recognizing a connection state of devices without addition of signal lines dedicated to detection. Thus, in the method according to this invention, a portion of or all of a plurality of data signal lines are connected through pull-up resistors to a high electric potential or connected through pull-down resistors to a low electric potential in accordance with the connection state of the devices, and a processing unit reads, as structure information data, a high electric potential state/low electric potential state generated by the pull-up resistor/pull-down resistor in the portion of or all the plurality of data signal lines to recognize the connection state of the devices on the basis of the read structure information data. This invention is applicable to a various types of processing units which are to be connected through a common data bus to a plurality of devices.

  • Publication number: 20030149664
Abstract: In a settlement system comprising an IC card terminal (a transaction medium terminal), a settlement terminal and a settlement server, IC card based settlement processing that the IC card terminal has so far executed, is distributed to the settlement terminal and the settlement server as well. The distribution would reduce load of processing by the IC card terminal, and because of the reduced load, the IC card terminal would not anymore require a CPU with a high processing capability or a large capacity of memory, contributing to low-costing of the IC card terminal, and eventually, allowing the total settlement system to embody low-costing.

  • Patent number: 6519650
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system capable of gaining access (data transfer) to portable type mediums whose number is larger than the number of ports on a processing unit side. Thus, in this invention, by using a demultiplexer, to one or more portable type medium ports provided in a processing unit there are connected a plurality of portable type mediums whose number is larger than the number of the ports. The demultiplexer selectively switches the ports and, of the plurality of portable type mediums, the mediums to be accessed by the processing unit for establishing the connections therebetween. This invention is applicable to data transfer between a plurality of portable type mediums such as IC cards capable of storing digital money and a processing unit having an ability to gain access to these portable type mediums.

  • Publication number: 20010014944
Abstract: There is provided a data communication device for transmitting input data to a host device, comprising: a sampling unit for sampling the input signal corresponding to the input operation at every prescribed timing cycle; a transmitter for transmitting data corresponding to the level of the sampled input signal to a host device; and a dummy signal generator for generating a dummy signal and laying the dummy signal over the input signal during the time period other than the sampling period. Even in the case of wiretapping of the input signal, the dummy signal that is unrelated to the input operation will thereby be detected along with the input signal. Theft of the data corresponding to the input signal can be prevented because the wiretapper will be unable to distinguish which is the input signal.

  • Patent number: 6275873
Abstract: A method of communication between an adapter and a drive improves the data processing efficiency of the adapter and data transfer efficiency between the adapter and the drive. The drive has a slot to receive a disk cartridge containing a disk and drives the cartridge. The adapter is shaped to be inserted into the slot of the drive. The adapter has a controller to transfer data between the adapter and the drive through the heads thereof. The controller formats data so that the formatted data may fit into at least part of a disk format having tracks and sectors handled by the drive. The controller assigns a specific one of the tracks to the formatted data and transmits the track with the data to the drive.
