    Abstract: Disclosed a color filter for a liquid crystal display device, which exhibits a color filter contrast of 9000 or more and includes a transparent substrate, and a plurality of color layers exhibiting different color from each other and formed on the transparent substrate, wherein each of the color layers is a cured film of a color resin composition containing a polymer composition obtained through a copolymerization of styrene and an unsaturated carboxylic acid-containing monomer, a content of the styrene in the polymer composition being confined to a range of not less than 75 mol. % and less than 95 mol. %, and a retardation in a thickness direction “Rth” of each of these color layers is confined within a range of 0 nm to ?10 nm.
