    Abstract: A connection system to facilitate the mechanical coupling, and the transfer of electrical power between, trunk sections of an artificial tree is disclosed. The connection system can include a mechanical coupling system having a guiding surface and a guiding slot on a first trunk section and a guiding protrusion disposed inside a second trunk section. Insertion of the first trunk section into the second trunk section and thus contact of the guiding protrusion against the guiding surface can cause the first trunk section to rotate relative the second trunk section until a predetermined rotational alignment is reached, aligning electrical contacts of first and second electrical connectors, each of which is attached to an outer wall of a respective trunk section. The electrical contacts of the first and second electrical connectors can establish electrical communication between the first and second electrical connectors, and thus between the first and second trunk sections.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a collapsible container, such as an above-ground pool, having side walls with some level of transparency. The container may include a base, a side wall joined to the base, and at least one transparent portion of the side wall. The transparent portion may comprise a clear material strong enough to support the pool structure without the need for a reinforcing material. Such a design may be stronger, more durable, and allow for clearer viewing than conventional above-ground pools employing conventional portholes. Such a design may allow for larger portions of transparent material than traditional pools. For example, in some embodiments, half of the side wall could comprise a transparent portion. In some embodiments, the entire side wall could comprise a transparent portion. Additionally, the pool may have improved portability and storability characteristics that are superior to those of conventional pools.

    Abstract: A mixed signal controller for a power quality compensator includes an analog circuit, an analog-to-digital converter (ADC), and a digital circuit. The analog circuit amplifies an input signal from the power quality compensator by a gain factor and outputs an analog signal, which is converted to a digital signal by the ADC. The digital circuit receives the digital signal, calculates the reference compensating current of each phase and then generates a trigger signal via hysteresis PWM to the power quality compensator. The digital circuit includes an evaluation circuit that calculates a value of the system total harmonic distortion after the power quality compensator compensates power and adjusts the gain factor when the value of the system total harmonic distortion reaches a predetermined threshold.

    Abstract: An automatic kabob cooker and grill that utilizes a motor to automatically rotate a plurality of skewers to cook food in a kabob style manner indoors or outdoors. The disclosed invention utilizes a heating element which is located above the skewers and below a grill plate. The heating element serves to cook food of the rotating skewers as well as to heat the surface of a grill plate that is used to cook foods other than foods cooked on the skewers. Grill plate for the purpose of present invention is reversible with ribs on one side for grilling and flat on the other side for griddle capabilities. The present invention has cylindrical devices that can be temporarily attached to said skewers which provide a rotating rolling surface for grilling hot dogs and like foods.
