  • Patent number: 4340019
Abstract: An internal combustion diesel engine having a piston sliding in a cylinder and forming a main combustion chamber between the piston and the cylinder head. The cylinder head also has a pre-combustion chamber which communicates by a connecting passage with the main combustion chamber, with a fuel injection nozzle and glow plug arranged to project into the pre-combustion chamber. In addition, a smaller auxiliary chamber is provided which communicates with the pre-combustion chamber by a nozzle shaped aperture, and supplies additional combustion air to the pre-combustion chamber to help effectuate complete combustion, even at high engine loads, of the air-fuel mixture.

  • Patent number: 4333437
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling fuel injection timing in a diesel engine includes a piston activated by supplied pressure proportional to engine speed to advance the injection timing of the fuel injection pump in accordance with engine operating speed. In accordance with the invention, the injection timing control apparatus is provided with an adjusting mechanism which responds to a supplied indication of engine temperature for advancing the injection timing when the engine is cold and retarding the injection timing when the engine is at normal operating temperature. In a preferred embodiment, the indication of engine temperature is fluid pressure which is controlled by a valve and acts on an adjusting member to increase the tension on the piston return spring when the engine is at operating temperature.

  • Patent number: 4122813
Abstract: An apparatus, for adjusting the timing of a fuel injection pump for an internal combustion engine, advances the timing in response to supplied pressure which is proportional to the speed of the engine, and also advances the injection timing when the engine is cold.

  • Patent number: 4026259
Abstract: A mixture-condensing, spark-ignited internal combustion engine includes an intake conduit, a fuel injection device for continuously injecting fuel into the intake conduit, and a measuring device located in the intake conduit and capable of being displaced, against a restoring force biasing the measuring device into a rest position, according to the volume of air flowing through the intake conduit. The measuring device regulates a fuel proportioning valve for adjusting the amount of fuel injected into the intake conduit. A stop, adjustable as a function of engine temperature, is engageable with the measuring device to define the rest position thereof.

  • Patent number: 3934564
Abstract: In apparatus associated with an internal combustion engine for recycling exhaust gas and including at least one device for converting an operating parameter of the engine into mechanical regulating movement, a valve controls the quantity of exhaust gas recycled. The valve includes a housing having an inlet and an outlet for the exhaust gas. At least one perforated member is disposed between the inlet and the outlet. A rotatable axis mounts the perforated member such that a hole in the member can be moved into and out of alignment with an opening in a portion of the housing to open and close the opening and control a flow of exhaust gas through the valve. The axle is coupled to the converting device of the recycling apparatus.
