Abstract: A digital printer is provided with an automated printing sheet transport system, operating in an intermittent manner of feeding a printing sheet to the digital printer, halting the transport to allow printing onto the printing sheet while the printing sheet is maintained in a fixed position, and removing the printed sheet from the digital printer after printing. The digital printer may be combined with a screen print station, both operating on top of a single printing sheet transport system, to form an integrated multifunctional and hybrid printing press.

Abstract: A flatbed printing machine is provided with a printing table and a pressing device for a medium to be printed. The pressing device features parallel guide rails on both sides of the printing table, through which a pressing rail that is moveable above the printing table is guided. The pressing device is particularly applicable to a digital ink-jet flatbed printing machines.

Abstract: To avoid possible damaging collisions of a printhead with small receiver defects and other obstacles in a digital printer using a printhead mounted on a scanning shuttle for recording an image on a receiver while scanning along the receiver, a method using the following steps is used:—sensing for possible obstacles having a size smaller and larger than the inkjet head-receiver clearance distance in an area of the receiver to be scanned over by the printhead using a sensor system mounted on the scanning shuttle,—avoiding a collision of the printhead with the obstacle when an obstacle is sensed. Preferably an evaluation step is include to evaluate is a detected obstacle is evaluated to be potentially damaging. A system for using the steps is also disclosed.
