  • Patent number: 5750617
Abstract: Biologically degradable aqueous dispersions of vinyl ester polymers are provided which have a solids content of 20 to 70% by weight, based on the total weight of the dispersions, and have been prepared by free radical polymerization by the emulsion polymerization process, wherein, in the presence of10 to 50% by weight, based on the monomer phase, of biologically degradable plasticizer and 0.5 to 15.0% by weight, based on the monomer phase, of biologically degradable emulsifier and/or biologically degradable protective colloid,a monomer phase comprisinga) 50 to 100 parts by weight of one or more vinyl esters from the group comprising vinyl esters of unbranched or branched alkylcarboxylic acids having 1 to 15 C atoms,b) 0 to 30 parts by weight of ethylene and/or an ester of (meth)acrylic acid or ethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acids from alcohols having 1 to 10 atoms andc) 0 to 20 parts by weight of other mono- or poly-ethylenically unsaturated compounds, is polymerized.

  • Patent number: 5736466
Abstract: The invention relates to coating compositions for producing watertight, vapor-permeable and flame-retardant coatings, comprising a vinyl chloride copolymer or vinyl acetate/ethylene dispersion, flameproofing agents, foam stabilizer and optionally crosslinkers. The invention further relates to a process for producing watertight, vapor-permeable and flame-retardant coatings by mechanically foaming the coating composition to produce a stable foam, applying the foam to a woven, knitted or nonwoven support material on one or both of the sides and drying it at a temperature of from 60.degree. to 180.degree. C. and optionally, after drying, compressing the foam layer. The textile support materials coated with the coating composition are suitable for use in building protection and in the geotextile sector.

  • Patent number: 5508100
Abstract: A product is obtained by a process involving binding two or more layers of tissue fabrics derived from cellular pulp or cellulose fiber. In this process, a binder composition comprised of: (a) 10 to 80 parts by weight of an aqueous plastics dispersion of a solids content of 30 to 70% by weight and based on one or more copolymers comprising vinyl acetate/ethylene copolymers, vinyl acetate/ethylene/N-methylol(meth)acrylamide terpolymers, alkyl acrylate/N-methylol(meth)acrylamide copolymers and vinyl acetate/ethylene/alkyl acrylate copolymers, or vinyl acetate/alkyl acrylate copolymers, which optionally have a N-methylol (meth)acrylamide content, (b) 50 to 300 parts by weight of a filler which has an average particle size of 0.5 to 100 .mu.m, and (c) 0 to 4 parts by weight of a thickener and/or at least 0.1 parts by weight of a dispersing agent to a portion of a single layer of tissue, affixing a further single layer of tissue and drying to obtain a prelaminate.
