Patent number: 8727308Abstract: An adjustable electromagnetic fluid flow control valve includes: a tubular member of non-magnetizable material. One end of the tubular member is forming an inlet and serves as the main entry port for: gases or other fluids entering the valve. The opposite end of the tubular member is forming an outlet The valve includes at least one annularly configured electromagnetic coil which is surrounded from outside and partially inside by a core preferably built from ferrous laminations. The coil is connected to a power supply and can be energized by the power supply under control of a controller: A disk occluder of a magnetic material has diameter corresponding to the internal diameter of the tubular member. The occluder is disposed Within the tubular member and occludes the fluid flow when is positioned perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the tubular member. The occluder rests on a supporting non-magnetic-member with at least one passageway for fluid flow.Type: GrantFiled: April 22, 2010Date of Patent: May 20, 2014Inventor: Konstantin Shukhmin

Patent number: 7806140Abstract: A variable flow valve is provided. The variable flow valve includes a housing, an actuator, a biasing agent, positioning coils, and a locking coil. The housing defines a bore, an inlet, and an outlet. The actuator is moveably disposed within the bore and configured to selectively obstruct and expose the outlet. The biasing agent is disposed within the bore. The biasing agent is also interposed between the housing and the actuator to bias the actuator toward the outlet. The positioning coils are disposed about the housing and operable to drive the biasing agent to a retracted position. The locking coil is disposed about the housing proximate the biasing agent. The locking coil is operable to capture the biasing agent in the retracted position. As such, the positioning coils are thereafter able to move the actuator free of the bias from the biasing agent.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 2007Date of Patent: October 5, 2010Assignee: Robertshaw Controls CompanyInventors: Andrew Crnkovich, Konstantin A. Publication number: 20090092937Abstract: An electronic gas control apparatus including a variable flow valve, an igniter, a flame sensor, and an electronic controller is provided. The valve has a flow range that equals or exceeds a required flow range for any one of the types of gas suitably combusted by the burner. The electronic controller is operably coupled to each of the valve, the igniter, and the sensor. The electronic controller is configured to activate the igniter, to receive a flame status signal from the sensor, and to recognize a position of the valve when the flame status signal indicates a flame at the burner. As such, the electronic controller is calibrated for the gas, line-pressure, jet and burner configuration being used.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 10, 2008Publication date: April 9, 2009Applicant: Robertshaw Controls CompanyInventors: Andrew Crnkovich, Konstantin A. Shukhmin, Rana J. Waitai, Andrew J. Palmer

Patent number: 7455073Abstract: A fluid valve has a housing having an inlet port and an outlet port. A fluid flow path extends between the inlet port and the outlet port. A valve member is located in the housing in the fluid flow path. The valve member is moveable among a series of positions. The valve member and the housing have a plurality of apertures arranged such that a varied selection of the apertures is in the fluid flow path according to the indexed position of the valve member. In at least one indexed position of the valve member no apertures are in the flow path.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 2006Date of Patent: November 25, 2008Assignee: Robertshaw Controls CompanyInventors: Konstantin Shukhmin, Rana Waitai, Andrew Palmer
