  • Patent number: 8130051
Abstract: Aspects of a method and system for varactor linearization are provided. In this regard, a relationship between control voltage and capacitance of a variable capacitor may be controlled utilizing a plurality of bias voltages communicatively coupled to a corresponding plurality of bias terminals of said variable capacitor. The variable capacitor may comprise a plurality of two-terminal unit varactors and a first terminal of each unit varactor may be coupled to an RF terminal of the variable capacitor, a second terminal of one of the unit varactors may be coupled to the control voltage, and a second terminal of each of the remaining unit varactors may be coupled to one of the bias voltages. The bias voltages may be generated via a resistor ladder and/or via the resistive nature of a portion of semiconductor substrate. The bias voltages may linearize the relationship between the control voltage and the capacitance.

  • Publication number: 20100205639
Abstract: Certain aspects of a method and system for programmable biasing mechanism for a mobile digital television environment are disclosed. Aspects of one method may include controlling a bias of components within each of a plurality of radio frequency (RF) front-ends that comprise low noise amplifiers (LNAs) integrated within a single chip multi-band RF receiver, and of components within each of a plurality of baseband processors integrated within the single chip multi-band RF receiver. The controlling of the bias is based on signal power measurements within the integrated RF front-ends and within the baseband processors, and each of the plurality of RF front-ends handles processing of at least one of: a received UHF signal and a received L-band signal.

  • Publication number: 20090191821
Abstract: Aspects of a method and system for transmit path filter and mixer co-design are provided. In this regard, a filter may generate an output current based on a voltage applied to the filter and based on a feedback current produced by the filter, and a current mirror may mirror the generated output current into a mixer. Additionally, the output current may be filtered by a transconductance and a capacitance at an input of the current mirror. This filtering may reduce out-of-band noise generated by the voltage to current conversion devices. A gain of an output of the mixer may be controlled by varying a width of one or more transistors of the current mirror and/or by varying a resistance coupled to the current mirror input. A frequency response of the filter may be controlled by varying the gate width and the capacitance at the input of the current mirror.
