  • Patent number: 5099705
Abstract: A motorized reciprocating tool unit releasably receives a saw, file or like tools and includes a counterweight unit to stabilize system operation. The is greater than a weight necessary to compensate for the forces created during the working action. A variable counterbalance weight unit may be used to create during the tool operation to compensate for the changes in the reactive loading characteristic. The variable compensation counterweight unit includes a counterweight which is slidably mounted and a pivoting lever moving the counterweight in an opposite direction from that of the tool holder and drive. In the variable unit, the tool holder is mounted for pivotal movement and is spring loaded to the standby position such that work reaction forces deflect the tool and holder resulting in a relocation of the lever coupling to the counterweight unit. The ratio of the length of the lever arm varies to change the stroke of the counterweight and the counterbalance forces.

  • Patent number: 4793541
Abstract: A soldering gun has a finger actuated rotary solder feed unit and a solder cartridge releasably coupled to the gun. A solder guide tube extends forwardly parallel to the cylinder and guides the solder into engagement with the heated tip. The guide tube is mounted for vertical and angular orientation relative to the cylinder for locating the solder relative to the tip. A rotating ratchet feed wheel is connected to the trigger and has teeth engaging the underside of the solder. A set screw is located in the path of trigger to adjust the trigger stroke and thereby the length of the solder fed to the tip. A pressure wheel is mounted to firmly hold the solder to the feed wheel and is secured to a spring-loaded and pivoted T-shaped lever within the gun housing. The T-shaped lever has the pressure wheel rotatably mounted in the cross bar and the stem projecting upwardly into engagement with a bias spring. The lever has a release arm for manual pivoting of the lever to release of the solder.

  • Patent number: 4513809
Abstract: An energy recovery ventilator adapted to be mounted on a roof and adapted to be connected to the outlet of an exhaust air duct of a building ventilation system and the inlet of an air supply duct of a building ventilation system. The energy recovery ventilator includes a housing having an exhaust air chamber and a supply air chamber separated by a divider wall. A circular heat transfer wheel is position in the housing, a portion of the wheel being housed in the exhaust air chamber and a second portion of the wheel being housed in the supply air chamber, and the heat transfer wheel is caused to rotate about a central axis. An exhaust fan is housed in the exhaust air chamber and causes exhaust air to be pulled through the exhaust air duct and the heat transfer wheel and to be exhausted from the housing.

  • Patent number: 4307774
Abstract: A heat wheel is made of spirally wound, interleaved, flat and corrugated strips of metal material. A plurality of circumferentially spaced pairs of radial rods extend between the wheel hub and the outer rim of the wheel. The rods of each pair are disposed in a radial plane and, in that plane, are at an angle to each other so as to form rigid triangular truss-type supports in angularly spaced axial planes.

  • Patent number: 4255171
Abstract: The heat transfer medium for rotary air-to-air heat transferrers includes alternate planar and corrugated layers of a fiber-reinforced, heat-curable, organic resinous material. After corrugating and interleaving of the layers, the resultant structure is heated to cure the resin to a hardened state and the layers are bonded together at their points of contact to form a self-supporting, water-proof structure including a plurality of uniformly-spaced, tubular flow passages extending axially through the structure in parallel relationship parallel to the rotational axis of the transferrer. The surfaces of the flow passages exposed to air flow are coated with an aqueous coating solution containing a water-soluble hygroscropic material, such as lithium chloride, and a sufficient amount of a water-soluble wetting agent to provide a continuous film of the coating solution on these surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4234038
Abstract: A transfer wheel assembly and a method for making the transfer wheel assembly is provided. The transfer wheel assembly is of the type for use in air conditioning systems for conditioning air flowing through an air conduit in response to the condition of air flowing through an adjacent air passage. The transfer wheel is conveniently constructed by having a central hub and a plurality of radially extending blades connected to the hub and extending radially outwardly. A plurality of condition transfer medium sectors are supported by the blades, the sectors each being pervious to axial flow of a gaseous medium and being capable of providing a condition transfer between itself and a gaseous medium flowing therethrough. The transfer wheel assemblies are conveniently assembled by cementing one radial edge of the sectors to a radial face of a supporting blade. The radially inner ends of the supporting blades are then joined to the central hub such that the sectors and supporting plates form a transfer wheel.

  • Patent number: 4100938
Abstract: The flow control unit includes a shell or housing defining a flow passage and a damper assembly disposed in the housing for controlling the volume of air flowing through the flow passage. The damper assembly includes a pivotally mounted damper blade which is partially surrounded by a pair of perforated members, one located upstream and the other located downstream of the damper blade pivot axis. Each of the perforated members have an arcuate cross-sectional shape and is disposed in close proximity to the travel path of one of the outer edges of the damper blade. The perforate members preferably have an open edge spaced from a longitudinal plane extending through the damper blade pivot axis. During initial damper blade travel from the closed position toward the open position, substantially all of the air flows through the perforations of the perforate members.

  • Patent number: 4017025
Abstract: An inlet plenum extends into a control box and opens into the interior of the control box. Conditioned air is introduced into the box through the inlet plenum and flows from the box, to an area being serviced, through an outlet spaced from the plenum opening in the box. A damper is positioned at the plenum opening and it and the plenum at the opening having conforming shapes, i.e., segments of a circle. The damper closes over the discharge opening and, to vary the volume of air flowing through the box, pivots away from the opening about an axis offset from the center of the arc of the damper and the plenum opening. When the damper is closed on the plenum opening, the centers of the arcuate plenum opening and the damper are coincident and, relative to a central plane parallel to air flow through the plenum, are offset from that plane so that the damper is moved away from the plenum opening by air flow.

  • Patent number: 3941310
Abstract: Air flow volume in a delivery duct is sensed in the form of changes in duct pressure and the sensed pressure is fed back to a diaphragm assembly which is part of a thermostatic control located in the room to which hot or cold air is being delivered. Dependent upon the sensed pressure, the diaphragm assembly throttles a bleed opening in the supply line of a pneumatic actuator, which actuator determines the position of a damper in the duct to thereby control the volume of air flow in the duct. A bellows is also part of the thermostatic control and senses room temperature to establish a spring force on the diaphragm assembly and against which the sensed pressure must act. The bellows is adjustable to afford room temperature selection. The bellows and a compression spring act on a master lever, the compression spring reacts against the bellows force.
