    Abstract: A writing instrument having a sanitary moistener comprises an elongated body having a writing tip at one end and a supply of moistening liquid accessible at a location on the body of the instrument by a finger of an individual using the instrument, in order to moisten the finger to facilitate turning sheets of paper. The moistening liquid is supplied in a reservoir and delivered by a pump, or through a finger-operated valve. Alternatively, the moistening liquid is supplied in a liquid retaining porous medium having a part which can be exposed through an opening in the body of the instrument. In one embodiment, the liquid-retaining medium is accessible at the end of the instrument opposite to the writing tip. In two embodiments, the liquid-retaining moistener has conical passages receiving the ink cartridge and a side projection received in an open-ended slot in one of two parts constituting the body of the instrument.
