Abstract: A method and system provides improved auscultation training for medical students and other healthcare providers. The system includes an instructor stethoscope which generates an acoustic output corresponding to an ausculatory sound from the patient. The acoustic output is wirelessly transmitted to earpieces worn by one or more students such that the students can simultaneously listen with the instructor to the ausculatory sound. The acoustic output may be recorded for future listening and training. The instructor stethoscope includes a resonance chamber having a capacitive pickup to receive the ausculatory sound wave from the stethoscope chest piece. The acoustic wave is converted to an analog signal and then to a digital signal, which is broadcast and then re-converted to an analog signal for the listening students.
