  • Publication number: 20160328081
Abstract: A method is provided for providing various operational states based on user input type. In particular, an example method may include providing for operation in a first operational state, receiving a user input, and determining if the user input is of a first input type. A second operational state based on the user input may be determined in response to the user input being of the first input type. Methods may include providing for operation in the second operational state, different from the first operational state, in response to receiving the user input of the first input type, where the second operational state precludes input of a second input type and allows input of a first input type, where the first and second input types are different from one another.

  • Publication number: 20160192097
Abstract: In an example embodiment, method, apparatus and computer program product are provided. The method includes capturing an acoustic signal by a microphone of an apparatus to generate an electrical output signal. The acoustic signal is rendered in response to a source audio signal by a speaker through at least one speaker interface element of the apparatus. The electrical output signal is compared to the source audio signal in order to determine whether the electrical output signal is being affected by mechanical vibrations caused at least partially by the speaker interface element being at least partially interfered by a user. A predetermined action is further performed in the apparatus whenever it is determined that the electrical output signal is affected by the mechanical vibrations caused at least partially by the speaker interface element being at least partially interfered by the user.

  • Patent number: 9313567
Abstract: In an embodiment an apparatus includes a graphical display panel and a loudspeaker. The panel has a display layer for displaying images and defines a plurality of apertures penetrating through at least the display layer. The loudspeaker includes a diaphragm arranged substantially parallel to the display layer. Sound from the loudspeaker diaphragm is directed outside a host device through the apertures. The speaker may be an electret or a piezo-electric speaker for thinness. There may be apertures on an opposed side of the host device housing to achieve a dipole pattern which is directed and gives acoustic privacy to the user, or a rear acoustic cavity for a monopole pattern which more broadly disperses the sound. One illustrated embodiment is selectable between monopole and dipole. Size and total area of the holes determines acoustic resistance and so a method is described to determine those from physical parameters of the display panel.
