  • Publication number: 20230147710
Abstract: A system for individualized liquid feeding includes a powdered protein, a nutritional oil, a powdered, low fat, low protein food fortified with vitamins and minerals and a computer program product for individualized liquid feeding. The computer program product is configured to cause a computing device to perform a number of actions. According to one action, the computing device, based in part upon an input mass, computes a suitable daily amount of the powdered, low protein, low fat food. According to another action, the computing device, based in part upon an input primary health condition, computes an amount of the supplemental powdered protein and an amount of the nutritional oil to be combined with the amount of the powdered, low protein, low fat food. According to another action, the computing device outputs the computed amounts of the powdered, low protein, low fat food, the supplemental powdered protein and the nutritional oil.

  • Patent number: 8399411
Abstract: This invention is directed generally to compositions (including foods nutritional supplements, treats, and toys) for animal consumption, particularly compositions that comprise omega-3 and omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids, and particularly compositions that tend to aid in reducing mitogen-activated-protein (“MAP”) kinase activity in animals. This invention also is directed generally to methods for using such compositions, particularly to methods for using such compositions to reduce MAP kinase activity in animals, and particularly to methods for using such compositions to treat a cancer or tissue hyperplasia. This invention is further directed generally to processes for making such compositions.

  • Patent number: 6764691
Abstract: Seaweed supplement is included in diet of mammals and poultry to enhance immune response. In one embodiment, pasture forage is treated with seaweed supplement. In another embodiment, seaweed meal is directly fed to mammals and enhanced immune responses is manifested by increased width response after intradermal injection of phytohemaglutinin. In an independently inventive embodiment, seaweed supplement is administered to pigs exposed to PRRS disease to impart resistance to said disease and improve performance. In stilt another independently inventive embodiment, seaweed supplement is administered to lactating mares prior to weaning to mitigate the stress of weaning.

  • Patent number: 6342242
Abstract: Seaweed harvested from the ocean when ground as an intact meal or exposed to alkaline hydrolsis extraction procedure resulting in a water soluble form provides a feed ingredient with mineral composition and plant growth regulating activity when included as a pasture treatment or feed ingredient for mammals and poultry, resulting in enhanced immune function, enhanced health, weight gain, and meat grade quality. Steers grazing seaweed extract treated forage continued to exhibit enhanced immune function after entering feedlot phase finishin with no seaweed extract diet supplement.

  • Patent number: 6312709
Abstract: Seaweed supplement is included in diet of mammals and poultry to enhance immune response. In one embodiment, pasture forage is treated with seaweed supplement. When cattle or lambs are grazed on seaweed supplement treated endophyte-infected forage, immune function is preserved or depressed immune function is reversed. The enhanced immune function continues to the feedlot finishing phase even though no seaweed supplement is fed in that phase. In an independently inventive embodiment, seaweed supplement is administered to pigs exposed to PRRS disease to impart resistance to said disease and improve performance. In still another independently inventive embodiment, seaweed supplement is administered to lactating mares prior to weaning to mitigate the stress of weaning.
