  • Patent number: 4749458
Abstract: The invention discloses a free-flow electrophoretic separation method and apparatus for separating charged substances such as proteins, cells, and the like, by electrophoresis, which comprises supplying a mixed solution containing the charged substances to be separated, which are dissolved in a separation buffer, into a separation chamber, circulating the mixed solution inside the separation chamber, applying a d.c. voltage to the mixed solution to cause the electrophoresis of the charged substances and to separate them, and withdrawing the charged substances thus separated from outlets disposed at one and the other end of the separation chamber.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 4492638
Abstract: Coal particles are agglomerated in pulp water of coal particles by agitating the pulp water in the presence of a binder, which comprises conducting agglomeration in a plurality of zones, the zones being communicated one after another, and transferring the pulp water from one zone to another while agitating the pulp water in each zone and increasing a pulp concentration of the pulp water from one zone to another. Agitating power for the agglomeration is reduced with the successively increasing pulp concentration.

  • Patent number: 4050953
Abstract: In a continuous sugar evaporator-crystallizer having a plurality of evaporating-crystallizing vessels as stages, each evaporating-crystallizing stages being communicated one to another in series and being provided with a means for feeding an aqueous sugar solution, a heating means and a means for withdrawing generated steam, by feeding an aqueous sugar solution to each evaporating-crystallizing stage, heating the aqueous sugar solution in each evaporating-crystallizing stage, thereby evaporating water off the aqueous sugar solution and crystallizing sugar crystals, and withdrawing the generated steam from each of the stages, while feeding seed sugar crystals to the first evaporating-crystallizing stage and withdrawing the resulting sugar crystal slurry from the last evaporating-crystallizing stage, sugar crystals of high quality is obtained in the slurry with an effective suppression of occurrence of conglomerated sugar grains by providing sugar crystal distances of 0.26 to 0.
