  • Patent number: 9415961
Abstract: A paper transport device includes a motor; a transport portion that transports a paper by using a power generated by the motor; a determination portion that, when the paper is transported in a transport direction, determines whether or not a load larger than or equal to a predetermined load has been applied to the motor for a predetermined period; and a motor control portion. When the determination portion determines that a load larger than or equal to the predetermined load has been applied to the motor for the predetermined period, the motor control portion rotates the motor in a direction reverse to a normal rotation direction and then rotates the motor again in the normal rotation direction by inputting to the motor an electric current being larger than an electric current that has been input to the motor for transporting the paper in the transport direction, before an electric current causing a load that is larger than or equal to the predetermined load is input to the motor.

  • Patent number: 8172392
Abstract: A printer is disclosed which determines whether or not an opening of the printer is open or closed. The printer includes an opening/closing mechanism for opening and closing the opening of the printer housing. The printer includes a controller configured to determine whether the opening is open or closed based on a light receiving state of a light receiving portion. The light receiving portion receives light from a light sending portion. A first movable body with a plurality of openings is moveable between the light sending and receiving portions. A movement transmission mechanism moves the first moveable body according to movement of a second moveable body.

  • Patent number: 7918526
Abstract: A printer is provided with: a detector, operable to output an output signal in accordance with a state of a printing medium transported within the printer; and a control signal generator, operable to generate a control signal in accordance with a level of the output signal relative to a threshold. In order to control the printer, the output signal is detected. A timing signal indicative of a timing to judge the state of the printing medium is detected.

  • Patent number: 7677554
Abstract: A recording medium transfer apparatus includes a motor control unit for controlling the motor to rotate at higher speed when the recording medium is fed to the liquid ejection area than that when the recording medium is discharged out of the liquid ejection area, and a feed control unit for controlling a next recording medium to be fed simultaneously with discharge of the recording medium, if a position of a rear end of the recording medium when recording or printing has been finished is situated upstream of a predetermined position, which is upstream of the discharge roller as much as a distance between a feed start position of the recording medium and the liquid ejection area, whereas controlling the next recording medium to start to be fed after discharge of the recording medium has been finished, if the position of the rear end of the recording medium when recording or printing has been finished is situated downstream of the predetermined position.
