  • Publication number: 20040036910
Abstract: When received mail contains divided data, the divided data is stored in a RAM until it accumulates a predetermined amount. Then, the predetermined amount of divided mail data is combined to restore the undivided original data file for printing. Accordingly, the original image can be readily restored even from mail data which has been received as a plurality of pieces of mail.

  • Publication number: 20030093675
Abstract: An imaging system is provided with an authentification data storage that stores a plurality of pieces of authentification data in relationship to user IDs respectively representing owners of the plurality of communication devices. Further included is a reading system that reads out one of the plurality of pieces of the authentification data corresponding to a user ID if the user ID is transmitted from the external device in relationship to the image data, and a searching system searches for a communication device with which a connection authentification is established using the authentification data read out by the reading system within a predetermined communication area with respect to the imaging system. An imaging system forms an image represented by the image data transmitted in relationship to the user ID from the external device when the communication device is detected by the searching system.

  • Publication number: 20030048484
Abstract: A data transmission/reception system provides the recipient of image data with flexible options for handling the image data. The system transmits notification mail to a cellular phone owned by the recipient when transmitting facsimile data from a transmitting facsimile machine to a receiving facsimile machine. The recipient transmits a command from the cellular phone indicating how the facsimile data received by the receiving facsimile machine should be handled. In response to the command received from the cellular phone, the receiving facsimile machine either forms an image based on the facsimile data on paper or forwards the facsimile data to another facsimile machine near the recipient. Accordingly, the recipient can transmit a forwarding command instructing the receiving facsimile machine to transmit the facsimile data to a facsimile machine nearby when the recipient is in a remote location, thereby enabling the recipient to view an image based on the facsimile data at any time.

  • Publication number: 20020198987
Abstract: A data analysis provider system includes a client device and a data analysis provider both capable of two-way transmission. The client device transmits either target-of-analysis data or information relating to the target-of-analysis data to the data analysis provider. Additionally, the client device notifies the data analysis provider of a desired process to be performed on the target-of-analysis data. The data analysis provider receives the target-of-analysis data or information relating to the target-of-analysis data transmitted from the client device and confirms the desired process. Then, the data analysis provider prepares response data that enables the client device to perform the desired process and transmits the response data to the client device. The client device receives the response data from the data analysis provider.

  • Publication number: 20010046065
Abstract: A printer control device includes a joining unit, a transmission unit, and a control unit. The joining unit causes at least one network printer to join a predetermined multicast address. The transmission unit converts print data into packets and multicast transmits the packets to the predetermined multicast address. The control unit monitors transmission/reception status of the packets at the at least one network printer that has joined the multicast address. Based on monitoring results the control unit controls transmission of packets to, waiting for packets from, and retransmission of packets to the predetermined multicast address.

  • Publication number: 20010039590
Abstract: An IP address setting device includes a request packet transmitting unit, a response reception unit, an address information designation unit, and a setting packet transmission unit. The request packet transmitting unit transmits a request packet to a particular multicast address. The request packet requests transmission of an MAC address from each node of the network. The response reception unit receives responses from the nodes to the request packet transmitted by the request packet transmitting unit. Each response includes the MAC address of the corresponding node. Based on the responses received from the nodes by the response reception unit the address information designation unit designates a node to be set with address information including an IF address and designates the address information. The setting packet transmission unit transmits a setting packet to the particular multicast address.

  • Publication number: 20010019953
Abstract: An electric device includes a read only memory (ROM) storing a condition setting program which sets operation conditions and the like of the electric device in accordance with data. When a user changes the operation conditions and the like of the electric device, the user access a homepage of the electric device from his or her own cellular phone, inputs necessary information and command through the cellular phone. When the electric device receives the command, the condition setting program sets the operation conditions in accordance with the received command.
